That’s very sad to hear, because Doody comes across as a wonderful bloke. It’s disappointing that this said ‘activist’ feels the right to act entitled to get their way
One of the nicest people. He is a pure joy to see every day in the office.
I agree - the only way that people are going to improve is if they are given opportunities to improve skills - being told that you can’t have more, or limited opportunities because a colleague didn’t like an early attempt is just unfair, and shouldn’t be accepted in any workplace.
I totally get what you are saying.
But it really should be addressed. Amanda reduced her time two years ago and they have had a line up of terrible presenters. Amanda Hart was the only decent fill-in. It really shouldn’t take this long and this many people to find someone decent. And if it ends up with the weather presented by a local reporter in Perth, that is a good outcome too.
Daniel isn’t great either. But I don’t imagine it’s him.
Narelda reportedly raised concerns that Doody’s presentation style was too bubbly and that he wasn’t sufficiently across the weather events affecting Perth, along with a number of other issues. As a result, it was decided that Narelda would read the weather herself and not fund for another weather presenter for Perth.
It is. TVJunkie has now used his name above.
Isn’t the weather segment considered to be one of the more uplifting parts of a commercial news bulletin ![]()
I suspect management also saw it as a cost cutting opportunity so they didn’t have to pay someone to stay behind in Sydney for the weather. However, if they want to cut costs, why don’t we look at the presenter who is throwing their weight around who could be replaced with a senior reporter who also reports across the week and still pretty much achieve the same ratings.
Narelda appears to be untouchable for some reason. ![]()
As a dedicated 10 News viewer I would pick Ezra for weekends. He had a great presence, and he spoke so calmly and didn’t miss a beat.
It should be. Why do haters gotta hate?
And having worked with her in Sydney she throws her weight around. I’ve witnessed it first hand.
Wow. I thought Doody and Nerelda were close friends?
True friends don’t complain about each other.
He’s no Josh Holt nor should he be - Doody has a great presentation style, he would probably be suited more to on location rather than studio weather presenting though. A great versatile talent for 10.
Probably doesn’t help that he can’t really do on location weather while living in Sydney ![]()
But then again, I have no doubt we will start to improve when given the chance.
Also, if people want an in-depth weather forecast, they can go to the BOM’s website.
Correct
No surprise you’ll agree.
You don’t agree that Doody suited being on the road for Studio 10? I mean in part 10 agrees because why did they never get him to host Studio 10 or why doesn’t he fill in for Angela on daytime?
Perhaps a common misconception by networks is that anyone can do weather because it is just reading from BoM. But you actually need a skilled presenter so it comes across as polished. Unlike newsreading, it requires standing, moving, switching between autocues and interpreting what you are reading so that you can point correctly. Daniel looks rigid and uncomfortable.
I remember on his first day of doing weekend weather he bantered with Georgie in his usual manner but then had to talk about storms in WA (I think). The segue was grating. He is known as bubbly and there is nothing wrong with that. But, like if he was newsreading, there is a time and place for the ‘sunshine’. Taking him out of the studio, would take the segment away from the weather and play to his strengths (like they used to do with Tim Bailey). You would do the opposite for Amanda or Adam Morgan for example.
But, from what you have shared, I actually think Narelda’s point is more about getting a local weather presenter and honestly that is a valid point.
Talent raising concerns to management and making complaints about other colleagues happens all the time.
However it’s usually done confidentially and discreetly, and management would take full responsibility for any decisions or changes made as a result, Most people would never know a complaint or concern was raised.
Sounds like 10 management handled it poorly if they just used it as an opportunity to cut costs and then point the blame at the person who raised the concern.
It was nothing about that. It was that SHE found him too bubbly and not in sync with weather events. There were other things she mentioned but I won’t mention those details.
