While this is strictly true, it’s a ‘perfect world’ hypothetical. And things - especially in a media world - leak out
Narelda identifies with several minority groups that are underrepresented on commercial television, so them getting rid of her/reducing her role could easily be misinterpreted as discrimination regardless of the circumstances. Believe me, that is the last thing any organisation needs.
Just imagine the headlines:
‘Australia’s first female indigenous lesbian newsreader SACKED by major network’. Be enough to sink 10 as a network completely.

They had their opportunity to avoid that and they didn’t use it.
When Narelda returned from leave and said she wanted to move back to Perth - that was their out.
Her role was Lunchtime from Sydney. If she can’t commit to that that’s on her. She should have resigned.
They’re the ones who created the Perth Weekend role for her. They had the opportunity in their hands and didn’t use it.

Yes!!! I did hear that actually.
Georgie said something about him to Chloe after sport.
It has nothing to do with that.
What I find, and others in the newsroom find strange, is that this is someone who constantly promotes fairness, inclusion, and giving people a chance, yet was so quick to complain about Doody rather than giving him the same fair go she expects others to get.
Something that hasn’t been touched on, is Doody now the permanent weekend weather presenter?

Yeah but I’m asking someone who would actually know.
My point is, if he isn’t permanent then Narelda is making waves for no reason. So if Sarah or Taylor are scheduled on a particular weekend, are they “allowed” to do Perth too?
Perth’s weather will be read by whoever is reading the Perth news over in the west on the weekend.
Given that the Perth weather is no longer presented from here, they are also moving sport back to Perth to be presented by a sports journalist

That seems a little unfair. So because Narelda has an issue with Doody, anyone else who is doing weather misses out on the opportunity?
I get that ultimately Perth wins by having an all local weekend team but seems a bit dirty in the way it got to that.
On the flipside it created an opportunity for Ezra Holt to read from Perth last night, instead of having Georgie cover from Sydney.

Ezra did well last night. Hopefully there’s more opportunities for him in the future. I can also see the likes of Campbell Greaves, Grace Barlow, or Megan Birch to read at the news desk in the future.
Is Olivia Donaldson still at 10 Perth? I’m surprised she wasn’t considered to read the weather on weekends.

How did Doody not doing weather in Perth create an opportunity for Ezra to read?
Narelda requested, and it was pushed back. Given that Ezra has reading experience, the Perth team (I believe) decided for him to read. There was also backlash from viewers and internally here in Sydney over the fact that she was allowed to read here, so they didn’t want a repeat of that.
