Ten News First Presenters and Reporters

She was off from the Friday after they discovered the bodies of the missing guys in Sydney. I think some of us thought it was too emotional at the time, although I don’t think she has been back on since. Hugh mostly has been reading. Ang has been on and off since inception of the bulletin.

Those missing guys have an actual name. How bout you be respectful and say those names ? Jesse Baird and Luke Davies. You may not care but other people like myself in the gay community do.

Also given she worked with Jesse it would have taken a toll on Neralda. Glad she’s having some time off.

If you’re going to have a go at someone maybe get their names right first.

His name was Luke DAVIES. Not Davis.

That’s a great article actually brings up so many points about how women have experienced inequality in media. I for one glad to see more women in news. I’d love to see more two female anchors become more permanent in Australian media.

10 Leads Industry For Women In News.

Celebrating The Women Of 10 News First On International Women’s Day.

10 News First embodies the overarching theme for International Women’s Day of Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress leading the industry for women in key broadcast positions and leadership roles in news.

Beverley McGarvey, Executive Vice President, Chief Content Officer & Head of Paramount+ at Paramount Australia said: “We’re very proud to have a female team of news anchors for every bulletin across the country, the only female political editor across the commercial networks Australia, and four out of five of our Executive Editors in our newsrooms are women.

“It’s certainly important to celebrate and recognise our talented women in news on days like today, but we also live and breathe this focus on gender equity every day with a strong commitment to investing in women across our entire business.

“And while we know we have more work to do, we’re also pleased to have the smallest gender pay gap across the broadcast industry.”*

10’s team of experienced news anchors includes Kate Freebairn on 10 News First Adelaide, Jennifer Keyte for 10 News First Melbourne, Narelda Jacobs OAM on 10 News First Midday and 10 News First Afternoon, Natalie Forrest for 10 News First Perth and Sandra Sully AM for 10 News First Queensland and 10 News First Sydney and Chris Bath for 10 News First Weekends.

The adept female Executive Editors leading the bulletins across the country are Gerda Jezuchowski for 10 News First Adelaide, Nicole Strahan for 10 News First Melbourne, Pamela Magill for 10 News First Perth and Erin Edwards for 10 News First Queensland.

Covering red carpets around the world and all things entertainment is Angela Bishop OAM as the Network Entertainment Editor for 10 News First.

In Canberra, Ashleigh Raper reports on politics as the Network Political Editor, the only female political editor across all the commercial networks, showing that not only does Federal Parliament remain a male-dominated field, but so too does the reporting of it.

A fact supported by the 2023 Women in Media Gender Scorecard that found gender inequality prevalent across the industry with most byline authors male, particularly in prolific media areas such as sport (82% male, 18% female), finance (63% male, 37% female) and politics (59% male, 41% female).**

Rashell Habib, Head of Digital News and Strategy said the successes of women in media are often overlooked.

“I don’t want gender to be an issue for news and journalism, but it is. I think we’ve got to be louder about our successes as women in news and shout about our own achievements as well as the accomplishments of our female colleagues.

“We can’t do it alone and need to support each other and find allies in our workplaces and across the industry too.”

Paramount Australia continues to work towards gender equity in the workplace offering flexibility, gender neutral 14 weeks paid parental leave and an increased focus on equitable recruitment activities surrounding process and pay.

I dont know what people expect.

The midday news is more than just a news bulletin. They conduct interviews and have reporterslike Angela and Doody on the desk for a chat. If they’re going to be chatting and there is banter, then you expect that Narelda will be sharing an opinion. At midday its more like Sunrise or Today than a straight news bulletin.

Except the people at Sunrise and Today appear to be able to keep their opinions in check. Which is what you need to be doing as a journalist. Narelda is notorious for letting her opinions get the better of her and speaking out of line. At the end of the day, no matter the program or output, journalists are here to tell the story and not their opinions. We don’t want to hear them. It’s up to us as the audience to decide how we react to the news and form our own opinion.

Sorry what? Do you watch those shows?

Do you see as much negative feedback/ articles on them though?

They appear to be able to articulate their opinions without provoking others like people like Narelda do.

You don’t see Nat or Sarah or Alex or Brooke jumping on social media and posting their own opinions on news stories do you?

she only said what the lgbtqia+ commuinty was thinking, good on her i say

She shouldn’t though. That’s the point. As a journalist she needs to be impartial. That’s literally her job.

you do remember covid right??? journalists are never impartial, and covid showed us this. i remember following a lot of journalitts who at the time on twitter espcially expressed what they really thought of how thing were going, esp the melbourne lockdowns, simon love or lovell is prime candicat of this

So because of a few rogue journalists it’s suddenly okay for all of them to input their thoughts and opinions into the news?

The point of the news is to tell viewers, listeners, readers whatever, a balanced summary of the days events. It is then up to us to form an opinion based on those summaries.

Look at Lisa Wilkinson. She took it way too far, got involved in the story instead of reporting it and now she’s pretty much disgraced in the industry. She’ll never get a high profile position again because she’s proved she can’t be trusted to be neutral.
