Still very strange that they get Narelda in but use the same team and sport and weather presenters when Chris or whoever is presenting national news could do it. Seems like a waste of time and money.
In terms of time yes, but she probably canāt do much with Studio 10 at the moment so itās probably better than paying her to do nothing.
Weirder that Hugh Riminton presented last weekend followed by Narelda doing Perth. Surely she could have done both bulletins.
Thatās a fairer point. Bathieās a prominent figure in 10NF marketing on a limited contract. If she had to take off a day, Narelda could have done both shows.
I donāt know what goes into rostering, but Iām sure thereās a good enough reason for this.
Speaking of Chris Bath, I wonder if weāll finally see her present fill-in Sydney weeknight bulletins for 10 News First after āRoad To Nowā (presumably Bathieās last major project for the ABC) finishes at the end of June?
That would be great but I think Hugh Riminton and Natarsha Belling would be ahead of Bath as 10ās main choices for fill-in for Sandra.
Matt White has left (retrenched) Ten.
Wow. Maybe heās replacing Neil Breen at 9?
Supercars Media probably, when considering he has been doing eSeries for Supercars TV.
I doubt that, especially when Nine have got more than adequate people to fill Neilās shoes in Rob Canning (ex-Ten himself, I know) and Luke Dufficy!
Was he still head of sport? Wonder who will take over now.
Yes, as discussed in the Ten Sport thread.
If theyāve cut ties with Matt, Iād say they are making the role redundant with it seeming that the network is becoming less reliant on sports programming.
Heās role felt redundant to begin with, unfortunately, on a network that didnāt have a lot of sport. It was a shame that Matt wasnāt utilised more in the news department. He is a very flexible presenter.
Something interesting in this article, which mentions that sheās presenting 10 News First weekends and:
āafter years of network contract, enjoying her freelance status.ā
So by the sound of the article sheās not tied to 10 as a network personality.
Guess it makes sense as to why Narelda is presenting the Perth edition too.
If she is freelance though why shove her on promotions for their news service.
Probably the same reason why Hamish MacDonald was being promoted for The Sunday Project last year even though he was working for them on a freelance basis as far as I remember.
Not sure about the promotional material or Narelda doing the Perth edition (especially when Bathie wouldāve stayed back to present the bulletin until recently), but being a freelancer would certainly explain why weāve never seen Chris Bath present fill-in weeknight bulletins even after leaving her ABC Radio commitments.
Youād think that if Chris Bath was to end her association with the weekend editions of 10 News First at some point in the future, Narelda would most likely be the weekend presenter everywhere?
Iād hope they would try and approach some underutilised talent from Seven or Nine (as Iāve probably said before - Melissa Doyle & Deborah Knight instantly come to mind as presenters whoād be great on 10 News First) in such a scenario first though.
