What a fantastic promo! Kudos to the team at Ten.
I love the Tagline “come home to Jen on Ten”.
Much better than I was expecting them to have made.

Not a bad little promo. Nobody likes Melbourne… love that throwback. Now let’s hope they keep the promotions up.
It’s a well made promo. But I think I’m in the minority here, it adds nothing to showcase Jennifer’s talent
everyone knows she’s a newsreader. It’s probably not a point that needs to be made that she can read the news. Plus unless Ten wants to drag out grainy footage from the 1980s (which they probably don’t have anymore anyway) they’ve not really got anything yet that they can use to actually show her newsreading capabilities in promos.
The way she speaks in the promo is more than enough to show her speaking skills. It is all about trust, and trying to make a fairly big change seem very routine and acceptable to the audience - who usually don’t like change, as we all know. Just from watching the promo, you can see how popular she is out there.
Great promo!!
Obtaining Keyte definitely gives confidence in the Ten News brand in Melbourne . I really hope this is a turning point for the station. Hopefully Quartermain stays on to do sport and maybe host a revamped Sports Tonight.
She has a well known profile for newsreading in Melbourne. She doesn’t require Mark Ferguson style news promos to show “how she’s capable”…
she’s already got it!
After 36 years working in television Jen is very well known in Melbourne.
Saturday (23.06.2018): Matt Burke presented sport on location.
And she has worked with all three commercial networks.
Re the experience. That is what I don’t get about those viewers who are irate about Stephen being replace. I would love to hear how he is the BEST person for the job, particularly compared to someone who has more than three decades in NEWS reporting and anchoring experience.
I highly doubt that Stephen will even return to the network, let alone anchor sport. Didn’t they release a statement earlier this week that a new sports presenter will be announced soon? Stephen’s ‘thank-you’ will be the last words he uttered at that desk, IMO.
According to Jen she hopes he reconsiders his decision while on holidays, personally l don’t think he will change his mind.
Last l read his contract doesn’t end until the end of the year…
Since we’re on “spot which team the presenters/reporters are supporting by the colour of their clothing” watch again…
Fairly obvious Quarters won’t front sport, they should parachute someone in like Nathan Templeton/Michael Felgate in. Ten News Melbourne needs a senior sports hed with the loss of two seniors. Felgate and Templeton most defiantly under used.
The offer of Mon-Fri is most defiantly an attractive offer for those at a rival who present weekends or are senior reporters.
If not at Seven there are the likes of Clint or Corey at 9.
Ok maybe I should have been a bit clearer, to me it doesn’t particularly feel like a news promo. Except the obvious ending. I wasn’t expecting a Mark Ferguson-esque type promo. But when you think about it, Peter Mitchell and Peter Hitchener have been in the business for longer and Seven and Nine respectively have made some pretty decent promos highlighting their careers. I would have thought Ten would have wanted to do the same with Jennifer.
I think if they did that and then put some old Ten spin on it (similar to the promos they did about 10 years ago or so) then it might work.
Anyways always best to leave on a positive note, I do like the little dig at Seven: “nobody knows Melbourne like Jennifer Keyte”
Jen has been presenting about 3 years more than Peter Mitchell - she had his job before he did!
This is the best news promo and the best thing to come out of 10 in a long time.
Superb!
And Jennifer left Seven for Nine in about 1996 to do Good Medicine and occasionally filled in on national bulletins for them. I think she returned to present the weekend bulletin at Seven around 2002. So I would say they would be on par with presenting years.
Clearly some people know what they are doing. There’s a lot going on in that promo and it just hits the mark! Somehow they managed to get the uplifting element, Jen going home, reinforcing the trust factor, explaining her life story, the off-the-cuff moments, the little fun dig at Seven - all in 40 seconds!
Starts tonight promo posted on facebook which they’ve called Jen on Ten, too good.
