No no, I didnt mean that. I know its not missing out on going to air. I meant the better or bigger studio.
Bigger studio is used by HYBPA, so even if they moved The Project it would still be needed for that (unless they somehow build a combined set)
This looks nicer. Would be even better if they could restore the actual newsroom backdrop though.
Agree it would be nice to have a refresh of the Melbourne set but why on earth would they spend the $$$ moving the project to replicate the Sydney news set for a 5 times a week Melbourne bulletin - makes no financial sense at all and the Sydney set is simply too big.
Obviously a smaller version of the set.
Not surprised - the promo’s they filmed when Adelaide returned to a local bulletin were quickly removed for these types enders.
Hopefully they still air those one’s with Sharyn out and about in Brisbane.
Still getting full promos as well.
Sharyn is a great hire and, for me, Liz’s weather spots have been the biggest gain. But, at this stage, it just feels like the Sydney bulletin with a different presenter. Half the bulletin is still pre-recorded, the production crew is still interstate, still not enough reporters and of those few with experience, presentation is obviously more bland and (somehow) there are actually more stilted transitions with less interaction between presenters.
So, I’m actually glad that the ratings for Brisbane are going to be a bit slog. I think it will make the Brisbane team work even harder to improve the quality of the bulletin. It’s not bad, but I think it can be better.
Exactly what I said on Monday. I was very confused by the comments here saying so much more local news. No there wasn’t.
It is literally the same as last week except for Sharyn and Liz. It’s great to have local presenters again but there are still so many issues here.
The first week is not even through yet?
They’re rebuilding the bulletin, at quite an impressive speed. These things take time and don’t happen overnight. Hires and promotion etc will come.
Quite the turnaround in stance for someone who appeared to be quite buoyed by the signing of Sharyn et al.
In the scheme of things, there really isn’t that many issues. And if there is, plenty of alternatives to watch.
They pretty much had all reporters rostered on on day 1- which is going to happen every night. I noticed the last two nights there have been more live crosses, so they do seem to be sampling a few things to see what works.
Is the local content also spread out a bit more (i.e. not all crammed into the opening segment)
No- but 10 has long done it the ‘traditional’ way of local, national, international. Personally, I like it structured this way. But, given the decay of audience retention and the hour bulletins on 9 and 7, I definitely think this is something they may need to reconsider.
Night 3 was 42,000 total people.
The Chase 80k, Tipping Point was 99k.
For something different Liz is in Robina Stadium the venue for tonight’s Socceroos qualifying game tonight
And Josh Holt live at Manly for Sydney weather - good to see.
