Even if they increased the local content and placed another local reporter or two on the ground, the numbers won’t move.
Ten News dug their grave over a decade ago and the viewers have long sailed off. You just don’t turn to 10 for anything news. It’s just how it is and they created that issue.
I wish we could go back to the old era of Ten News. But we can’t, they have caused too much damage to the viewer base over time, it’s very sad.
Spot on. This is the best they’ll ever be, and you know what, that’s okay. They’re still providing an alternative service that does suit some people. People know what to expect from them and they do know their audience.
Nine News and Seven News will always remain supreme but 10 serves its audience well.
Adelaide beat Perth and Brisbane and was close to Sydney’s number. 10 really need to go with a big marketing push - but whether it’s worth that, who knows.
Adelaide seems to have adapted well to their local bulletin - it wasn’t far behind TP and TC yesterday.
Do we have any numbers on Lunchtime, Afternoon and Late News recently?
It’s almost like Sydney has forgotten how to do local. Great that Josh has been out and about and I like him as a presenter but standing on a beach is hardly community engagement. Similar for Liz, so far in Qld, presenting on location is great but it’s only half the point. Compare both bulletins to Adelaide where the weather presenter gets out and talks to people, promotes local business etc, reporters still get involved in local charities etc (like Variety bash) - it all helps to get people watching and engaged.
Doody is under utilized in Sydney - the more community engagement they can do on that 5pm bulletin the better.
I forgot to add - Adelaide also continues to have, and has historically had the benefit of a lot of cross promotion with several presenters and reporters holding dual radio/tv roles.
Josh did two segments, one early in the bulletin and the second one was similar to the rest of the week - presented a long report then Sharyn did the rest.
Wasn’t @nimeton literally complaining that Sydney and Brisbane bulletins don’t speak to locals in weather crosses. Ask and you shall receive from 10 News Brisbane this week it seems as most things we here on MS have had a problem with have been resolved the next night.
It’s a good touch that not many do. I know Livinia in Melbourne has chats with people at times, haven’t seen much else. Many are now using weather time, be it before or after, to push breakfast television commercials. Seven Melbourne are terrible at this now.
