Hopefully, eventually, Narelda will anchor 12, 3:30, and 5, and local news with Sully etc at 7 and 9:30 pm. One could dream, I suppose.

I’m not sure what a full scale promotional campaign would actually achieve or look like. No one apart from us would be jazzed to see the addition of a 3:30pm news bulletin and add it into their viewing habits - especially one presented on a national scale. So to that extent the Midday-3:30-5pm thing I can understand presumably with the late news built in…later
Their best chance imho is people flicking around at 3:30. 3:30 is not a natural switch on time for news but they might catch people in ad breaks of the game shows etc on other channels.

Yes, there doesn’t seem to be a long term strategy at play.
But look on the bright side, 2 years ago they only had 2 live studios producing 5 semi local bulletins at 5pm.
Now they have Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth return plus’s adding 2 daytime bulletins and soon a late night news bulletin.
I do worry that The Midday Bulletin might be affected this year with no lead in from Studio 10.

Yeah, not the best promos but honestly I don’t mind them. With their limited opportunities to advertise they’re pushing local at every opportunity and they’re demonstrating they at least have some commitment to news with bulletins throughout the day.
Yes, slightly disingenuous given two bulletins are national but in theory helps the main game - 5pm.

I absolutely think that’s what it is, a bit ambiguous about where the bulletin is coming from but still driving home the local nature of the 5pm.
This is absolutely what I expected they would do.
Plus they aren’t always run as a stand alone promo - commonly seen following a news update.

We have noticed high retention rates into 6pm on Sundays.

Given news is often the highest rated thing on 10 and it’s been 90 mins for a few years now, surprising indeed.
I remember commenting on that last week. That’s why I’m surprised they haven’t trialled it on Saturday too.
