Sunday 21 January 2024

Nine secured a very rare 50% network share on Sunday, its first since the first State of Origin last year as Alex de Minaur loss in the quarter final of the Australian Open drew +1.1 million viewers metro. It is Nine’s best share for the tennis since the finals of the 2022 tournament. All four prime time segments of the tennis were their best so far this year after the day segment also hit a 2024 high.

The other networks didn’t put up much competition with ABC’s Muster Dogs the top entertainment show for Sunday, but down 100k from the previous week against the competition and now with all episodes available on iView. The second episode of Total Control that followed slipped to 12th place in the rankings.

Over on Seven, 7News Spotlight managed 354,000 with a summer episode to make the top 20 but the movie Mamma Mia! that followed ranked 21st.

10’s best was The Project 7pm that was just ahead of Gladiators that recovered from Friday’s low to average 176k. 10 News also make the top 20 with a near 100% retention to the 6pm segment that also was a top 20 entry.

Earlier, Seven News had a narrow 10k victory at 6pm as Nine secured wins in Sydney and Melbourne.
