Ten News First Content and Appearance

They are owned by a global company that is successful all around the world. It’s just nonsense that they’re not giving the funds to run a decent local operation in Australia.

CBS/ Paramount owning 10 has done nothing for them.

Agree. Unfortunately it’s very difficult for local management to gain support for extra funding from its overseas owners.

With ratings falling in Brisbane, 10 might be able to convince Paramount to invest money back into Brisbane.

Unfortunately I see Paramount seeing it the opposite. Ratings are low so why give 10 money. It’s business after all. I kinda wish a local owner would come along and just blow the station up and relaunch it completely.

Yep, In someways 10 could benefit strongly from having a local owner.

It needs to be completely destroyed. Everyone gone. All executives. All staff. All hosts and on air talent. Rename the network. Everything.

Rebuild from scratch. Bring some people and shows back such as MasterChef etc.

New name. New multis. New look. Everything.

We are going a little too off-topic…but I would say I don’t see a wholesale rebrand of the network meaning anything the way TV is these days.

Mmm interesting approach to breaking news re the cyclone and not what I expected. Kinda thought more of the Sydney bulletin would be pre recorded (specifically the 6-6:30 portion) with stories from earlier in the day that would still be relevant and then they would have gone live into Queensland only at 6pm Sydney time.

Though that said given the 6pm portion will soon be cut entirely I suppose it doesn’t really matter at this point what they did in Sydney at 6pm, suppose it was a gamble on possibly breaking news though I’m not sure it paid off.

I really feel for the people working on 10NF in Sydney/Brisbane. They’re doing the best they can give the crap hand they’ve been given from management.

If they do it too well, nothing will change for the better. If they don’t try to do their best, it looks bad for them.

Here’s a surprise - only on 10 Brisbane breaking into programming - no coverage on commercials or ABC News. 10 look to be taking the whole ceremony, earlier had helicopter coverage of the motorcade.

ABC and Nine had earlier reports that the swearing in would be soon.

Once again the question has to asked of Nine that doesn’t have any other programming commitments this afternoon that would prevent coverage.

ABC News now has the coverage :

Breaking news to start tonight’s bulletin.

Nine’s 5pm news (out of Melbourne) did not have the breaking news story.

I’m sure this doesn’t mean anything but there is a slight change to the 10 News graphic in the Freeview TV guide from next Sunday.

What they have now, and until Saturday is this image:

From Sunday, they have this image:

Is there a graphics change coming?

Probably just a graphic change when they updated/recreated the EPG listing as a 1 hour bulletin.

Interestingly, 10 crossed to SCA Hit / Triple M Cairns Program Manager and Announcer Mark Littler on last nights bulletin.

When 10 announced that its Adelaide bulletin would be segregated from Melbourne production, they did so in November 2022 - giving the audience in that market at least three months’ notice. Even so, the bulletin wasn’t fully local - with Kate Freebairn presenting from Sydney, as is still the case today.

If 10 does return Brisbane to being a separate bulletin, they would need to announce it with a similar period of notice, but as someone has noted, it would require an upgrade of its facilities.

And then there was this article which suggests it would only happen if the local Adelaide bulletin’s ratings improve - and from what I know, they haven’t (someone please correct me if I’m wrong). This suggests that Brisbane will remain stuck with the composite bulletin it shares with Sydney until such time when Adelaide’s ratings improve, which IMO does not make any sense.

10 will have more time to prepare for a local return to QLD until daylight savings end.

The bulletins return to 1 hour next year so there is no reason they can’t have separate QLD and SYD bulletins, then return to local QLD news come April.

For all we know they could have been doing behind the scenes upgrades already. Could even cheap out and do a simple green screen set - they are already HD, just a matter of fixing the control room situation which is more complex.

Confirmation of sorts that Late News will come out of Sydney?

Sounds like an interesting role, social media and late news producer.

The Social & Late News Producer will fill a unique role in the 10 News First team. You’ll be responsible for creating compelling news content for social media, covering breaking news as it happens, and supporting the Sydney broadcast team with social and digital coverage. You’ll also play a large role in producing the relaunched Late News as the iconic broadcast returns in an innovative new format.

THIS IS A FULL-TIME ROLE BASED IN SYDNEY, WITH A 2.30PM-10.30PM SCHEDULE Monday to Friday

No, but it’s been reported that Brisbane numbers have gone backwards this year.

What time are they planning to broadcast if the role finishes at 10.30? Surely they’d be working during the broadcast.

And an innovative new format?

With the bulletin set to premiere first on 10play at 10pm and then air on broadcast at 10:30pm, the assumption is that it will be pre-recorded so would make sense that the person would only need to work until then.

Of course that time might just be indicative and may change, both their strategy and the nominated work hours.
