Different angle on Midday when Narelda presented entertainment without Ang.

Playout problem with part of first story on heat wave tonight - no audio on pre-record from Amber Johnston. It followed a live report from Amber in the Melbourne newsroom on an evacuation order. They switched to Paris Martin in studio.

That Melbourne newsroom backdrop is definitely new. Looks great.

Video -though there isn’t much , you can see some movement in the Melbourne background.

Still looks like a greenscreen from that video. Just an updated backdrop. An improvement nonetheless.

Yes - it is definitely green screen. I meant that it is video rather than a still shot.

Some technical issues tonight for the Perth Weekend Edition of Ten News First. Whole bulletin was presented on the couch by Chris Barr, with Paris Martin joining Chris on the couch for the weather.
Also no theme music and voice over introduction at the start, along with no title captions.

There were a few problems on the Brisbane bulletin last night too (even though it was pre-recorded), with the wrong OTS graphics and no overlays on some of the coming up teasers.

Who was very out of breath with the late-minute call on!

Chris’s mic was on for most of it too. You could hear her talking during packages.

According to The Australian’s Media Diary, the big-ticket item on the agenda was finding more ways for CBS and Ten to share resources. Dagan is interested in finding ways for CBS and Ten to collaborate as much as possible, including joint ventures on big international stories. But Ten News sources are adamant that this is not about finding job cuts in Australia.

Tenuously linked, but I find it interesting 10 shows that do contain some news content, even if it’s just to introduce a topic, and I’m thinking of Have You Been Paying Attention here, rarely (if ever) use CBS News footage, where as they will use a lot of other content, eg introducing a “big news from the US this week…” question then playing a quick clip.
Would have thought that there would at least try and bring some closer alignment to 10 content and CBS through those sort of means.

Awesome, the more 10 can tap into CBS resources to beef up content the better. From memory this was the direction before the pandemic and then fell by the wayside for obvious reasons.

10 News Adelaide: While still not competitive, I’ve been tracking the ratings and noticed an upward trend this week. It could be due to the time of year, but its better than going backwards. Tuesday’s bulletin was the highest rated of the survey while Monday is the equal second highest.

While it’s been little over a week, any changes with Perth?

No change in Perth numbers.

And still significantly less than before the centralisation. They have a long way back. They should market that it’s back, LIVE from Perth more. Most people probably don’t even know.

On the topic of the downtrend in 10 News First ratings, when did they first start to really downtrend to where they are today?
Obviously the numbers have fallen slowly for a long time but did they really drop off once the centralisation happened?

If the Perth move is temporary, why would they?

$$$$

They’re only doing this until Charlotte Goodlet comes back from maternity leave. But then what is the point really in going back to Perth when they could just rely on their newsreaders in Sydney to fill the spot.

Surely they’re going to keep it permanent if ratings hold still or increase.

I think that our perceptions of news numbers have been significantly distorted by the COVID years. News (and everything else) numbers had been slowly falling for many years. Then they suddenly shot up to numbers that hadn’t been seen for 5 years for more. Additionally, there seem to have been more natural disasters in recent years that have also seen numbers up on normal. Numbers have been falling since, but because of the aberrations the falls look proportionally larger than they would have been if not for COVID.
