Typical negative coverage from The Advertiser. Eh, at least it’s free publicity for the new product.

Meanwhile, the 3:30 Sydney update included reference to bringing people the rates decision ‘live at 2:30’. Maybe they inserted the wrong pre-record but pretty piss poor.

Adelaide: Yesterday the first segment of the news featured all SA stories. Today it included international and national news but in both cases the reports were tailored to SA rather than just taking a Sydney produced story - there was a live cross to Türkiye and the interest rate decision was entirely a SA report. Otherwise the other stories were local.

Also tonight

No, both’ll be about $800k-1m

To what extent is this? Building a proper studio and controlling the bulletins in house rather than via Melb/Syd?

Hiring crews to fill the bulletin, staffing a control room, returning vision paths between states, new studio equipment, new news vehicles and camera gear, more editors.

Plus a whole bunch of stuff that was kicked off the capex due to the centralisation.

Well it sounds like 10 have found the happy medium with this bulletin. Let’s hope the ratings improve.

They have a great team - it’s nice to see some younger fresh faces.

This is what the Adelaide and Brisbane centralised bulletins should’ve been from the start.

Presenting out of Melbourne or Sydney but keeping a separate bulletin in its own studio is leagues better than the franken-bulletins that execs thought would be a good idea. Keeping Bec as presenter for Adelaide would’ve no doubt helped as well.

They’ll have a rocky start as they figure things out, but hope for their sake it all goes well.

I’m sure someone will soon come up here to say "$$$” as the reason why.

Presenter costs were slashed, also Sydney would have needed a dedicated Mozart control room and studio to handle Brisbane and associated Telstra are now reduced are just the beginning.

There was also a different Network Head of News in 2020.

Great to see. Can take advantage of being a proper live bulletin once again.

Slightly different OTS graphics in Adelaide tonight.

Edit:
Seems they have a few variants

The font looks eerily similar to the ugly ones Nine News Melbourne used for year.

The typeface isn’t Impact, though I’m not sure what font they exactly use in saying that.

Definitely not Impact just a heavier weight of the ‘News First’ font.

The text needs to be bigger too.

Barlow, their Network wide font.

I think the fuller version is better, makes it seem more like it’s a set with a screen, also seems like the camera angle is slightly better - more straight on than angled down.

People here were complimenting that angle- I think it makes the bulletin look awfully cheap. I’d much prefer the tighter shot and overlay OTS, like they use for sport.

Haaa- as if.
