Reportedly a new midday bulletin with Narelda Jacobs.

Tbh midday news makes more sense. And good that Studio 10 is being reduced. It’s too long.

The article says Studio 10 will run from 10am - 12pm and then 12pm midday news.

Look, its not unexpected. But it begs the question what they’ll run in the morning now.

12pm news I think is a great idea, especially if @TV.Cynic has said that the final half hour of Studio 10 is the strongest, and they’ll be able to capitalise on this with a news bulletin.

But doesn’t Dr Phil at 12.00 normally win it’s slot?
Seems silly to move it.

A midday news is not a bad idea. How many years had passed since 10 had a lunchtime bulletin? (As seen a few times from TV Week schedule in Classic TV Listings thread)

However, it will be up against the established ABC News at Noon, which won’t be an easy task.

I also hope there will be no more job cuts in the news department, especially with the Adelaide 5pm bulletin resuming in January with Kate Freebairn.

Yes the last part of Studio 10 does better than the rest of the program - two things, that it is up against news on Seven and Nine, so some people switch over because of that. Second the competition gets a big boot at the start of their shows from the overrun of 200k viewers for the first 10-15 minutes of their programs.

I think (local management) have made the right decision here…

But in all honestly, how is 10 going to improve its market share with fuck all investment from its overseas owners Paramount?? Studio 10 and 10 News First wont improve in the current environment unless more investment is put into it.

Much better schedule, cutting back Studio 10 and hopefully adding some actual content and midday news is a good initiative.

I suspect Dr Phil will move to 1pm followed by primetime encores at 2pm.

Indeed, investing in content at 8am isn’t going to move the needle

Unfortunately, Its been hinted that more staff will go as a result. The show will still be drawn out as a result over its 2 hours broadcast time.

Have no idea how the new Adelaide News will be go next year.

That schedule is so uninspiring. Literally nothing worth turning on until 10am. They could have at least kept the 8am bulletin.

They cant… as these resourses have now been moved to Midday.

Do these resources not work 8 hour days? (ie 6amish until 2.30pmish). Why couldn’t they cover both bulletins?

Serious Q. Is it different in the media world?

Sounds like most Australian morning commercial TV

At least a one hour bulletin is a point of difference. Potential for a few long-form reports, sports segment, crosses to OS etc.

I can understand why they axed 10 News First: Breakfast for a Midday edition given the ratings. Probably works out better for staffing and cost too.

10 are practically running dead air before 10am. They’d almost be better off licensing CNN, Al Jazeera, DW World or something to run in the morning.

But nobody is watching it so what is the point?
