that’s fine if that’s their position, but it seems a very expensive and labour intensive form of “time slot filler”. Wouldn’t they get the same result by screening Friends re-runs or some such thing for a fraction of the cost?

Imagery looks good but not sure about a national show using a Sydney backdrop on the 10Play image…

Are 10 obligated to provide news like regionals?

Agree, it doesn’t work for a national bulletin and I like the YouTube image better.

Looks more like 10 with the layered globe backdrop and the warm breakfast colours.

In short, no.

I do wonder if not shifting to a national news service that is better produced and perhaps more hours would be a better use of resources now. Run mornings, evenings and late nights and concentrate all production in Sydney. Have a hit location in each newsroom should any city have any appropriate breaking news but handle everything out of Sydney otherwise.

It should all be done from Sydney, the Melb set is not national material and both presenters should not be split.

100%. Stop the Frankenstein bulletins.

How would everyone feel if they moved to a “semi-national” approach in the sense that the bulletins are still as so:
Bris/Syd => Sydney
Ade/Mel => Melbourne
Perth => Sydney

however the actual bulletins themselves do not have the cut-paste approach, have no local branding and are live into all markets (except Adelaide)?
That way they’d still be able to (somewhat) tailor stories to those specific regions.

Excuse me if it’s been mentioned (but there’s been a lot of posts in here the last 24 hrs lol) but is the bulletin coming from Sydney each day? Or Will Tash be in Melbourne?

Awful idea… a national bulletin with local windows would be a better approach if they were going to tweak the format though I prefer what they’re doing at the moment.

In Syd from Mon - Wed, then Melb for Thur & Fri.

Quite likely Tash may be in Sydney from time to time as needed I would imagine.

Who are we thinking as potential back-ups for the bulletin, Doody? Charlotte Goodlet?

I reckon Doody. He’s been the fill in most recently.

I’d like to see Sarah Harris fill in.

Nothing new, but 10 NF socials sharing the broadcast promo.

I believe Studio 10 have a dedicated promo producer/editor, separate from the promotions team - so they may have a much bigger budget than you think.

Even though Studio 10 has “10 News First” branded content, and they fall under the “News Division”, they wouldn’t necessarily share assets easily - that includes talent and staff.

I don’t really understand the surprise at the poor promo - 10 have a terrible track record with promoting news, if they do it at all.
Their breakfast audience will also mostly be preexisting from habitual Studio 10 watchers turning on the TV at 8am and future increases from “word-of-mouth” promotion.

10’s prime time schedule needs all the promotion it can get, every second promoting this 8am bulletin are potential eyeballs wasted.

Studio 10 should just add a new tail to their promos for a while, “after 10 News First Breakfast”.

Looks like the new 8am news bulletin will not start on time; on par for when Studio 10 used to start.

Not a great start that 10 are still running B&B until 8:03, a bulletin should start on time IMO.
