CG wasn’t a contender for it. The late news is still happening (maybe this month ) but anything is possible.
And Ursula Heger will be hosting.

Yay, some confirmation!
Good appointment too - Ursula is a great presenter.

Would you happen to know what type of format it will be? A similar straight news bulletin like 10 News First Afternoons/9News Late?
Wow… this escalated.
Great news if proven true.
not doubting the word of our correspondent, who could be 100% correct, but nothing is really confirmed until it is announced.
Low key loved the format when Hamish hosted an iteration of 10 late news years ago.
It’s a shame Hamish couldn’t do the new late news. I think he’s wasted on The Project.
Agree Ursula is great, shown by filling in across multiple bulletins the last few months.
Reminds me a little of Catalina Flórez who used to work at 10, and would somewhat be up against Ursula on the late news.
He may only be signed with Roving Enterprises and isn’t on a network contract. I do believe he is underutilized. This may be his choice but he could add some depth to 10s reporting if he worked within the news department.
Absolutely he would, am surprised he isn’t utilised more.
I recall the press release when he came back to 10 saying they were exploring other projects at 10/Parmount+ for him, which clearly haven’t eventuated.
He was really good on Al Jazeera years ago, had a great rapport with his co-hosts. I think a two-presenter news bulletin would really suit him. (Oh and please don’t make this into a story, Daily Mail. Your paper sucks)
Haha yeah this is why I asked about the format - I figure it’ll just be a straight news bulletin, but the magazine Hamish-era format was fantastic. Such a great product back then.
So that would indicate it will nearly certainly be Sydney based too.
Personally I would rather have Sandra doing it. She got great ratings when she presented initially so have no idea why they can’t go back to the future
Yeah you’d love that wouldn’t you Though somehow I don’t think she’d be so keen to stay behind an extra four hours
Sandra probably doesn’t want to do it because she’s already starting earlier to prep for Brisbane news in addition to Sydney.
In fact that’s one of the reasons speculated relating to why Narelda did Perth news initially during relocation.
So first change in the standard time hybrid bulletin. Local sport preview with Matt Burke at the desk using a Sydney backdrop. This is probably to soften the blow of the hybrid live sports segment later on.
Did Brisbane get a full prerecorded segment 1?
Segment 2 looks live to both markets with fairly generic national stories. Made to look local by being timed to come out of local traffic reports.
Another change… end of segment 2 local weather report in full. That means they’ll close out the bulletin with a hybrid weather report.
These changes are even more diabolical than previously.
They’ve tried to make these look as local as possible but the reality is even though segment 1 was sort of local, at least two of the reports were national/international news. Then they do a local weather that’s recorded and the rest of the bulletin is identical.
This is a travesty. They really are not addressing the concerns of viewers regarding local news. They reintroduced it in Adelaide and Perth but the biggest market and third advertising markets get a hybrid turd.
Sport seems prerecorded. Looks as if they’re both on separate rundowns?
I missed the segment. But probably recorded for Brisbane and live in Sydney.
