Ten News First Content and Appearance (2015-Sept 2020)

It’s a fair bit less trash than the competition and a proportion of viewers appreciate that

Many could be continuing from Five. The rest would indeed remaining would be new viewers for a 30 min wrap.

In the 16-39 age bracket the ratings for 6pm generally are higher for the 5pm segment, so there is some turn on aspect.

If you watch the 5pm hour it is very hard to watch the 6pm half hour as it is mainly repeated content with one or two new reports or features. Sport is much briefer as well.

I certainly appreciate it!

Of course that has nothing to do with the current climate…

No even before that in Sydney sport was only 2 or 3 stories. And it wasn’t a criticism.

Melbourne has slightly modified the top of their desk. I believe the updated look launched last night.

Do Melbourne ever do any different presentations styles? Does Jen do any standing presentation?

Not from what I’ve seen. Maybe our Melbourne members can clarify that for us?

Nice! I guess it basically means we aren’t in for a new set any time soon given they also recently added the panel to the right.

No. A shame really. They (used to?) have the two vertical screens on the right but they were never used.
Back in the double header days, the sports presenter would stand at the screen on the left to present.

I guess this confirms there are no plans in the near future to create a Sydney-inspired set. The new desk top would’ve been planned and ordered before all of the COVID shutdowns.

Fair enough, I thought it’s always been that though. I remember Perth was the exception with almost 15 minutes on Thursdays a few years ago…

Yes they used to have Super AFL Thursdays (I think thats what it was called, going back quite a while now)

Their set is a nice set, no need for a change.

The only thing that really bothers me (and this goes for all states except Sydney) is the big bezzels around the 3 screens.
It looks really dated now.
Replace the three screens with a nice big video wall and then the set is ready to last another 5 years!

And a replica of the Sydney desk please.

Melbourne does have a replica desk that they made for their Melbourne Cup set, presumably somewhere in storage.

Why is 10 still doing 15 mins of sport in a 30 min bulletin. Totally stretching out paper thin content.

Where are they doing that. In Sydney it’s typically 3-5min the 6pm half hour.
