Ten News First Content and Appearance (2015-Sept 2020)

Minor blooper tonight:

Chris Bath: And if you live in New South Wales, South Australia, Tassie and the ACT daylight savings end tonight.

Well what about Victoria lol?

And Norfolk Island. Significant as it is the conclusion of their first Summer of daylight saving time.

And again

Let’s hope they lock in 6pm Weekends soon.

Well their Saturday 5pm edition was their highest rated content last night. 10 are a mess on Saturday’s.

Surely news at 6 and then maybe a Saturday project with highlights could work? Then a movie at 7.30

Live News headlines from Chris/Narelda in the newsroom & a look at the week that was through highlights would be a good format for a Saturday Project IMO.

10 News First Sunday biggest audience since October 2018.

Of course ALL news is up and such numbers won’t be maintained.

Of course, if there’s ever an opportunity to show off your USPs as a scrappy underdog network, now is the time.

10 News at 6pm hit a new high on Monday. That saw The Project at 6.30 post a 2020 high.

That’s great. And from what I know there has been zero marketing or promotional campaign.

Nope. There’s been no mention anywhere that they are even on at 6pm.

They don’t need to because it would be a waste of money and airtime. They are on a 5. No one in their right mind would watch Ten at 6 in isolation when you’ve got Seven and Nine starting at 6pm. What is so special about Ten’s 6pm bulletin that you can’t get from Seven or Nine?

The biggest change (at least in Brisbane) is that reports to air during the 6pm half hour are now promoted in the 5pm hour.

I would say the larger numbers were due to daylight savings ending in Melbourne and Sydney?

Nothing so special about all 3 of them, but 300,000 or so are choosing 10 over the other guys at 6.

I guess the main appeal is those who want 30 mins of news at 6, then something else

Nothing really. You may want only 30 mins of news at that time. Clearly it is also bridging the gap between the end of the 5pm news and the project.
