Seems misleading. The ‘huge ratings slump’ is not explained or quantified in the article. It seems an unusual comparison to make - Sunrise on the number one network to 5pm news on the number 3 network. Tuesday’s numbers quoted are correct; but that is more a testament to the good numbers for Sunrise in Perth than anything else; on that day, Sunrise outrated Seven’s primetime show The Proposal. 10 News in Perth gets triple the ratings of Today.
The reference to missing the top 20 is also strange - seems like something an insider would say but the meaning would be lost on the general reader. It’s not unusual for 10 news even nationally to miss the top 20 especially Monday when there are several 30 minute prime time shows that fill the top 20 places. The rankings last week were 23, 19, 19 and 16.
I would have thought a fairer comparison and certainly worth mentioning is that on every day 10 News First ranked second in its timeslot with up to double the audience of Hot Seat on Nine. On Wednesday for example, Hot seat ranked 41st at 5.30pm and 69th at 5.00pm.
