I quite like that Brisbane sport background image.

Indeed, It will be interesting what they use for the backdrop for sport on the panels when the New set is constructed.

That looks a whole lot better than this, IMO.

I was going to mention that, the animation and style is much nicer.

Woolworths Red Spot special

While it doesn’t look that flash as a plasma graphic, the 2nd “Breaking News” graphic with the circle works fine as a quick transition IMO.

As for the first one, Nine News called. They want their “Breaking News” graphic back! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

There was a cross to Emma Lawrence tonight, seemingly standing directly behind Hugh on the other side of the video wall:

Wouldn’t it have been better to just have an on-set interview at the desk or perhaps on the soft set/couch area, seeing as it wasn’t necessarily a serious story?

It’s a news bulletin not a morning show the couch area shouldn’t be used.

They did this on the weekend too. An in-studio interview (from the desk) or Hugh crossing to Emma at the videowall from the desk, would shake up the presentation of the bulletin.

A live cross to the newsroom is jus another pointless live cross to appear more urgent.

Seven crosses from the Martin Place set to a reporter in the newsroom all the time. No different.

In this case they didn’t have much news on the story that only broke an hour before and wouldn’t have time to send Emma out to Penrith for the cross so they just used the newsroom.

At least at Martin Place, the newsroom is on a different level to the news set (although these days they just sit in front of the plasma in the newsroom). However, the effort to set up a camera and lighting just 5 metres away from Hugh when she could have just been sat on-set is kind of a waste.

Sure- but the suggestion was being on set over being in the newsroom. Hugh interviewing her from the desk (even better, the sport presenter for ‘expert’ analysis) would be a different style of delivering the report.

Because Seven is an ace example? They have the worse presenter and worse set of all the Sydney commerical bulletins.

I wasn’t critcising 10 specificlly about the number of live crosses (all networks do this). Just a reason why they put her in the newsroom.

Not sure what the quality of the bulletin and presenter has to do with both networks throwing to a reporter only metres away in the newsroom.

Seven Melbourne do it all the time now. In the live cross to the newsroom, you can clearly see the set and presenter in the background. Looks good if you ask me.
