I agree. Although it’s important that people are kept informed about what’s happening nationally and international news, local news still matters a lot to viewers (personally I’d argue that it’s more important right now than it ever was before) so it’s important that the branding reflects that to some extent.
Rundown & Scripts! Not too staged.
Melbourne updates this afternoon presented by Caty Price.
Weather graphics in Melbourne have been a right mess today. In that clip she’s reading out Saturday’s forecast a day early, and the 3pm update had tomorrow’s forecast listed as “today”.

The ten news update looks like something from 2005. Especially the big globe background. And the updated ten news music has really lost its masculinity
Disappointed.
Last time I checked it was 34 Today! not 23! ![]()
They have really gone all out for this look. Its good to see that they are changing everything, rather than leaving old elements from previous packages like 7 and 9 do.
I swear that is just a copy of the old map background Nine used in the 90’s…
The other thing I’ll add about this news rebrand is that is just all feels a bit out of sync with the rest of the network rebrand, tone and audience they’re pitching the rest of their programs at. I almost think they’ve tried to go too traditional. Its not the ‘serious but cheeky/fun’ brand Sandra Sully refers to.
When will the changes stop?!
No to clarify. I hate when Australia is zoomed out too much!!
Looks quite clean to me so far. I don’t think it’s out of sync with the relaunch. It’s straight-to-the-point, no-nonsense, lean, clean and fresh. All the white is obviously deliberate. Works for me. From what I’ve seen.
I just hope they don’t use those awful multi-screen story backdrops.
Wow a female VO. Quite good.
oh my wow
