Ten News First Content and Appearance (2015-Sept 2020)

33 degrees next week, that’s not too hot. Sydney is expecting 37 degrees this Friday.

I understand it’s “the brand”
But people see first and assume they are claiming to be first.
Exactly like how “eyewitness” relevancy in its launch incorporated the content app for viewers to send news pictures/video etc. once that failed the name “eyewitness” was irrelevant.

10News Now would make more sense if they wanted some overexcited sensational American style name. It refers to at present and delivery. However I imagine that was scrapped because of 9news Now.

First is redundant imo until I see anything more. I hope I see more and am proven wrong.
10News would have been just as strong and bold I reckon.

Love the theme, but the graphics are okay.

The update was speaking to the victim in hospital. Seven’s update during The Chase had the same story.

They’re not signing off with 10 News either. I’m not going to spoil it for you though…

As for the brand, how do they future proof the newsrooms? You create a brand that isn’t reliant on the broadcast medium… 10 News in the future of social media is NEWS… how is that unique?

Wild guess. They’re going to do the American style sign off with a ‘looklive cross’/studio throw at the end of each report.

Or they’re going to back-announce each report current affairs style.

I’m definitely completely wrong.

two strikes.

Just to be radical - 10 News First: At Five

As for signoffs, I wonder if it’ll be used just like Newshub is - “reportername for News First”

I can not fault this post.
Completely agree.
Ten had a chance for a true rebrand - refresh - and they’ve failed. Again.
Theme is off putting. And the lines going through the background make it uneasy on the eye.

great thoughts based on a thirty second update.

Either way, Ten is still putting out an incredibly strong high brow news service. That’s not going to change. Everything else is window dressing.

This is dumb and doesn’t make sense. The meaning is completely illegible. First at what? First when?

It’s a weak and directionless rebrand overall which doesn’t appear to have done anything to reposition the service away from being the kinda-weird, kinda-boring, kinda-cheap 3rd placed contender

no sign-offs I’m guessing, maybe anchor will say who was reporting, or just use a super.

Either way, I’m hoping 10 will invest in LIVE updates at night. I know Quarters used to do a couple of updates taped at 6.01pm then head home.

If the brand and focus is First, it needs to be live and local throughout primetime, and ideally more than once a day outside of primetime.

Mmmmm maybe uneasy on the eye is a good thing - makes u on edge a bit. Lines on maps have served stations well - I think it could be a very good look.

I disagree. I can see what they are going for with 10 News First. It’s quite nifty. But they need to add more news to live up to it.

As far as news goes, Seven and Nine News have nothing to fear for now. Ten still dishing out one bulletin per day. They clearly are not committed to news at the moment.

I hope you’re correct.

We’d still have to see it for a full hour on weekends though :joy:
