Ten News Content and Appearance

That white/light background would look just as bad on the aging screen, but some vibrant colours would look great.

It’s a shame that the pink/red accent used around the circle of the logo isn’t more prominent on set.

The Perth background and watermark used following the return from the 5:35pm break.

On the east coast version of the bulletin? That’s a bit embarrassing, suppose it has something to do with pre-recording generic segments for Perth later if it’s not entirely live.

The danger of city based branding though I really do like it and they should keep it up.

I think this was just a graphics error. I thought the Perth edition is fully live?

Watching 10 News Melbourne live from a Melbourne hotel on a big screen.

I have to say, it’s the best “set” I’ve ever seen on ATV since I can remember*. So seamless and the future for smaller studios. *80’s teenager

This bulletin deserves double the current ratings and, if I may say, probably deserves a 6pm slot (with the appropriate marketing infrastructure). Not just the set but the quality and order of the content, crossing to Carrie-Anne Greenbank and others, Jen’s delivery. It’s just all first class.

The only quibble is the navy blue of the graphics. I’d prefer a hot blue, and maybe some texture/3d to the 10 News Melbourne logo. Give it some depth and gloss.

Well done ATV.

Mmm, I like 10’s news and the dedication the staff seem to show to do a great job with what they have and 10 have some great presenters but it’s also a chronically underinvested in and cheap product, Melbourne set aside for the moment, that generally deserves the ratings it gets and has trashed its own reputation over many years. No hope of competing at 6pm, even with promotion. The slight extra resources as a flow on effect from News+ (Carrie-Anne, for example) is nice for the moment, let’s see how long it lasts.

Lunchtime News coming out of Melbourne’s new virtual set, with a wideshot of the set in the opener. Jayde Cotic presenting.

What we should expect over the New Year period too :+1:

Who would’ve thought that the virtual set looks sensible when they use sensible wide shots! :scream:

What’s up in Sydney to cause the set switch?

Looks better than the Sydney set IMO. Less of a deep sea diving viewer experience

They crossed to Sydney set for Doody’s good news.

Jayde did the weather.

Yep, looks fantastic in the national look.

Shame they didn’t use a few more angles

I did want to watch Late News on Wednesday night and the story lineup seemed like mainly “filler content” - which was disappointing. Should have some more deeper national stories of interest.

Current content of the late news seems to be working pretty well for them.

News+ for ‘deeper’ national stories (which generally encores straight after)?

So why did Melbourne have the bulletin then?
Seems a waste of resources to have two sets operational at lunchtime.

Save on costs? Syd presenter unavailable?
Automated set in Melbourne + a fixed-shot of Doody in Syd is probably cheaper than a crew of cameramen in Sydney.

They are not wasting money. Both studios are operational during this time.
