I really wish 10 wouldn’t just recap the bulletin for the entire 6pm half hour on Saturday’s. What’s the point in watching? They should spread the bulletin out not repeat it.

I’m really skeptical that it would perform as well as some here think it would. Frankly, I doubt it would pull significantly better numbers than the current format such that it would (especially for 10) justify the necessary investment.

Watching 10 Late News live, and Ursula Heger really owns this bulletin. No frills and to the point, it suits the time slot perfectly. Whilst there may be a desire by some to give it a real set, I feel it really benefits from the more tight and intimate framing it currently has. It deserves its promising ratings of late.

What I like is it’s not merely a rehash of stories which aired at 5pm but rather it’s own program which has a good editorial direction + focus.

Imagine if 10 just promoted this bulletin a little more and it was seen as the replacement for The Project? It would probably have more respect given its toned down appearance compared to News+
Host is likeable, the program isn’t trying to be a NEWS GIANT but also has the legacy that 10 Late News carries, with being only news bulletin on air during 9/11. The Sandra/Brad banter, Hamish/Hermione days etc
10 News+ has the reputation of existing to replace the Project thus dealing with criticisms and tie back to the “woke nightly gibberfest” as media diary calls the Project.

Which of course continued into the local Sydney bulletin after the iconic Late News bulletin copped the axe in 2011.
The Late News was never the same in its two reincarnations since; though I do recall Sandra presenting a bulletin in 2014.
Imagine they did go back to the future and got Sandra to present it again…

Even now I still want to see a return of the Late News with Sandra. The banter with Brad was always a winner, even more so when she made him uncomfortable 
But I will say the pairing of Hamish and Hermione was fantastic. It’s shame that didn’t get to last long. They would be a great team for News+.

It was a little shakey tonight unfortunately. The return to breaks were still a little cold and the headlines at the end of the bulletin were pre-recorded. If it wasn’t for weather at the end, I was actually going to ask if they weren’t live tonight.

The muted palette of these graphics just look terrible on the videowall/set.
