Seeing those two images of Sydney and Melbourne sets. I still prefer Sydney’s real set but one of the positives of Melbourne is it isn’t a total sea of blue.

The outside background will be better if they replace the Federation Square car park with a view westward from Princes Bridge.

I know what you’re trying to say - the framing is off because Jen is cut off on the bottom of the screen.
It would look better if they angled the camera down slightly more to be similar in style to that Sydney shot

They just need to bring back headlines off the top. The bulletin feels so flat

Network 10 Unveils Cutting-Edge Virtual Reality Studio In Melbourne, Redefining Australian Broadcasting Standards.

Network 10’s studio premiered its state-of-the-art green screen virtual studio last week in Melbourne.

This pioneering facility, known as Studio 1A, positions Network 10 at the forefront of commercial broadcasting innovation, with the studio delivering unmatched flexibility, advanced automation, and superior visual storytelling capabilities for news and beyond.

Driven by the rapid evolution of Virtual Reality (VR) techniques in television and film, Studio 1A incorporates fully automated, remote-controlled cameras and an immersive graphics platform powered by Unreal Engine - a technology widely recognised for its transformative impact on the global broadcast and film industries.

The integration of these advanced systems allows for seamless camera movements and real-time scene changes, reflecting the latest industry trends in virtual production and automation.

Studio 1A’s multifunctional design enables swift transitions between news, special events, and other broadcast segments with the simple loading of a new virtual set.

Furthermore, presenters are no longer confined to fixed positions, ensuring dynamic new ways to engage audiences and deliver content, delivering a more compelling and visually impactful viewing experience.

While embracing the latest advances in technology, Network 10 remains steadfast in its role as a trusted source of news. The new VR studio is designed to enhance how we deliver accurate, reliable journalism, with technology serving to amplify its impact.

Martin White, VP News said: “It’s a really exciting time here at 10 News. Our local 5pm bulletin is up 9% year-on-year across all markets, and we know how important the Melbourne market is. Victorians love local news, so I’m thrilled we’re able to give them an unparalleled, immersive local news, sport and weather experience with this new technology.

“Our team is at the forefront of news in this country, and this is just a first step.”

Automated camera systems enable precise integration with graphics, allowing for complex shots and live visual effects that were previously unattainable.

This innovation elevates the standard for broadcast presentation across the industry, offering audiences richer storytelling and immersive content.

Not sure if it’s worth reading anything into that comment.

Seems a random release to put out when the set has already launched.

There are things happening in the background.

Queensland would surely be next in line for this

Melbourne’s set used to present a report seen nationally - Harvey Biggs reporting for 10 (ex ABC).

At least Queensland has a physical set

Adelaide please!

Surely if they are going to do Melbourne, they’ve invested a bit in this for the network overall as opposed to random budget spends on sets in each market.

I’d say Adelaide, Brisbane and then Perth will get this treatment eventually.

Syd will probably enjoy its physical set for years to come.

Pointing out (again) that 10’s Late News - despite 10’s schedule being against it, is competitive on most nights.
