Almost as if they should push more local news rather than national news?
The problem with that is local news in its previous incarnation at 6 was just a repeat of 5pm so people switch off anyway unless just getting home.- eg: how much local news is there. At least they’re having a go at differentiating at 6pm which might help audience retention if nothing else.
i actually often tuned in to Ten News at 6.00 just to get that half-hour catch up of news but I realise I was in the minority.

That’s what it’s for, you don’t necessarily expect someone to watch 90mins of it, but it’s catching people coming home and turning in when they do. Which is why you do headlines etc regularly throughout.
Investing in local services which are the most costly already surely makes the most sense.
By that theory invest in 3:30 or other early afternoon slots with local services (which I’d argue they should). Their alternative programming (10News+) still has a huge way to go but local services at 6pm for 10 is lazy programming.
No I wouldn’t do that.
I’d invest in local news at 9:30 or 10 (take a drink if you’re playing at home.) National news is fine for daytime. Be where the audience is and where Seven and Nine aren’t. If you started primetime at 7 you could have 10pm late local news every night.

Not even sure reallocating all of 10News+ budget to local late news would cover it. Maybe it would?
Some fairly average editing on 10 's late news last night, it’s always been a bit ordinary when they have hard cuts between earlier recorded crosses.
At one point the cross cuts back from Ange in the newsroom to Ursula, and an echoey “thank you Ange” can be heard but Ursula is clearly waiting to start the next segment.

The GFX packages are improving from launch.
My opinion - 10 would be better dropping the red circle from the title card to steer away from that 9 News branding and lean in more to their blue colour scheme. [Example below]
The white globe background with blue text GFX also looks too similar to Ch9.
