Networks have been successfully pooling recourses with helicopters & transmission facilities etc. for years now, I can see further pooling happening.
One camera crew/news OB van providing facilities for multiple network reporter crosses etc. Relying on pool vision further than already done today.
There’s lots of ways for networks to save costs by working together without completely losing there identity

For several years, we’ve tried to join the helicopter pool, but Seven has blocked it every time by demanding an unreasonable amount of money. They also control where the helicopter goes.

So ABC News and SKY News pay for the service but 10 cant?
Seven wanted us to pay more than what the ABC pays. At the time, it was to charge us a fortune and bring down the costs for Seven. Every newsroom brings this topic up, but the costs they’re asking for are absurd for us to enter the pool agreement.

I thought it was a joint deal by both Nine and Seven?
Seven wants control. They also supply the crew in most states and use that as a reason for wanting a higher price.

The worst thing that was ever done to Ten was entering into the TxA transmission joint venture with 7&9 - it had a clause that if any of the them went broke the others could buy the broke one out for $1. That clause was triggered during Ten’s last receivership and now Ten relies on the 7 & 9 owned TxA JV to transmit their signals in the capital cities.
The helicopter pool is the least of Ten’s worries - they are a TV station without a transmitter. The whole TxA thing was straight out of a MBA lecture.

10 hasn’t used TX Australia since May 2019.
They also paid 10 $22 million in the end, not $1.

Not sure it would work as well in other markets but I haven’t seen any other versions yet.

Agree it’s on brand and better than them trying to do serious news promos. They need to be different.
