Any live on location reports? Any use of video wall or standing? You need that kind of dynamic in late news so it feels lively. People won’t stay an hour if it all feels static.
It had live reports at the beginning but that was pretty much all it had, none of the other items you mentioned.
All this has done is shoot the Afternoon news in the foot if the Late news has fundamentally not changed
Question, if there’s no crew for the Afternoon news but it’s only static on the Late?
Where has the crew gone from the Afternoons?
Off to see the Wizard.
Weren’t floor crew let go ages ago and the cameras are now robotic?
Who cares, the afternoon news get F all viewers. They are rightly looking at primetime.
I liked it was life and I like the time slot as that’s when I try to go to bed and I can have it on for the hour to ensure I’ve dosed off. There’s too many parts where Ursula just reads and there’s overlay and that’s it. It needs to be more dynamic. They need proper structure to each segment. I hope it works for them but it does need some improvement.

10 would be happy with that. An extra half hour at that maintained figure, plus 10N+ encore. Hopefully it can hold the audience.
Josh’s weather report coming from another greenscreen ![]()
Didn’t realise Sydney had multiple greenscreen spaces.
I think it might be a screen.
10 interrupted programs AEDT. IN Queensland they returned from a break to the report then it was back into the lunchtime news.
Ursula presented a story from the screen plus the stories coming up after the break ![]()
More of this please.
After the first 1 hour edition had 113,000 Tuesday’s maintained the audience with 111,000.
Lunchtime backgrounds include standard, breaking, entertainment, good news and weather plus news room and Canberra as seen today.
Also following a story on a great white shark we had
“Melbourne viewers can see more of that story in your local news at 5pm” - seen everywhere.
Quite like all of those except the entertainment one
Hope this accelerated flow doesn’t continue much longer or 10 come up with an improvement. It seems too difficult to get the timing correct without a little bit of leeway that a fade out offers.
In Sydney, tonight Josh ended with milliseconds to spare talking over the credits.
In Melbourne, it was the opposite with Sophie having to double up to fill in time.“That’s all your weather for tonight. Your weather details for this Wednesday night” then silence until the credits finally appeared.
Would these be pre-recorded?
Yeah. It’s a fizzer and it makes them look amateurish. Plus, one of the best things about news bulletins is the banter between presenters. Why on earth would you get rid of them showing their personality?
