Night 3: 126,000 ![]()
Live all markets?
Always love this wide shot of the Perth set. Especially when it shows the left hand side with the wall & hallway.
Given that this set was originally done on a shoestring budget at the end of 2016, it has held up incredibly well and still looks decent, better than Melbourne’s old set.
Looks like the wall backdrop is falling off on the bottom right though!
And peace be with you.
Also lucky it wasn’t turfed into the skip bin when news production was shifted east.
They seem to have settled on a set of camera shots that are reproduced each night and show of the set. This was yesterday
Yes, survived the consolidation, unlike Adelaide, where even the office building was vacated.
As good as that looks, it’s a big lonely set for one person - especially compared to lunchtime which had, and is awkwardly trying to maintain, some interaction between a few presenters and guests. Lunchtime done well was content they could cut up and use later, not saying they can’t now, but more difficult when people aren’t in the same studio.
These are the standard fixed-position camera angles which are used hy the Saturday news too.
I’m still confused why Lunchtime had to be moved
Jen on lunchtime today. No wide shot of the virtual set to open, just the same tight shot as Sydney.
Aiming for consistency perhaps but, come on, at least use the set when they have it.
Just get Jen or another Melbourne-based presenter full-time if it means Melbourne’s controlroom is now in charge of the Lunchtime news (via green-screen to Sydney).
They have an automated studio. Make use of it.
Be interesting to see what they do longer term. Presumably both Narelda Jacobs and Kate Freebairn are returning at some point this year so they’ll be up two presenters in Sydney (unless relocations happen).
Kate’s return is days away.
When Adelaide comes out of Sydney with Kate where does it come from? The Afternoon news set?
Agree. Move the Lunchtime time bulletin to Melbourne where they can accommodate a better production and even move it back to midday if need be. I would assume the Melbourne studio staff would commence work at 11.00 - 7.00pm.
