First, people applauded the extra bulletins throughout the day. Now people slam them. There’s no winning with you people. ![]()

Interesting change to the 5PM closer in Melbourne with the “credits” in a new graphics strap at the bottom of the screen. The animation looked almost like it could be used for a ticker.
Only this week.
Is the Late News live tonight?
It hasn’t been uploaded online. Noted a “LIVE” bug on the first cross.
The tight shot on Ursula looks exactly the same as before…
Same in Adelaide too
Posters are that it is live and using the studio. But it’s the same one framing of the news reader with no graphics on screen. A tad boring for an hour. They need some variety,
They also still need to change the opening voiceover. Why are we being “welcomed” to a bulletin. Sounds like a concierge welcoming a guest to the hotel. So jarring.
Also see Brisbane and Sydney
Not sure who is producing this late news bulletin but the story selection and run down is all over the shop. Doesn’t seem to have a defined structure. Will be interesting to see if the whole hour has different reporting or they rehash everything in the second half hour.
Surely they’ll have a sports presenter or someone else presenting a segment. An hour of the same presenter is quite tiring.
Looks like the studio is in “Weekend mode”, all wide shots of the studio have been static.

Noticed this too.
So they’ve got rid of camera staff regardless of the switch between Lunchtime and Late…?
Some weird decisions by 10.
Could it be that since the late news was apparently done from the Melbourne control room likely due to it also handling Perth, could it be that there has been some shuffling and now Melbourne’s control room does the lunchtime news (hence it coming from the green screen), and Sydney now does Perth in addition to the late news?
“tonight’s top stories” - recapping 40 minutes in… Lasting around 30 seconds…
The problem is they’re seemingly taking the format which worked well as a 30min program and trying to stretch it out into a 1 hour program.
Instead, they should’ve rethought the bulletin’s format, structure and pacing so that it would work as an hour long program.
This bulletin is too long in a 1 hour format. The half hour format worked perfectly with the fast paced story rundown.
Weather report from Josh Holt.
So no “sports tonight” segment? Sigh…
Sloppy producing sounds like. An hour of news late at night needs to be very dynamic, fast paced to hold an audience.
It was still fast paced, the problem was that it was just too much with little structure.
A dedicated sports and finance segment could keep the same pace but provide the much needed structure that it’s missing.
The set was also only used for wideshots coming back from breaks. Pretty useless. The green screen was more than suffice given everything studio-wise (such as Josh Holt’s segment) is prerecorded.
