A bit sad for those losing their jobs. I don’t watch any commercial TV so I don’t personally care about changes. I know people still sit down and watch news bulletins at 5, 6 or whatever. As a retired person I get all the news I want during the day online and the ABC News channel. IMO all TV news evening news bulletins are archaic in 2020.
As I said I’m sorry to see people lose jobs except KAK, it’s time she went! I don’t watch Studio 10 but saw her rant about Paul Keating on HYBPA last night which made me very angry. Keating has done more for this country than some trumped (good word) up media enterainer who now fancies herself as a news person. If she doesn’t retire I’m sure there’s a place for her on Sky News alongside the other right wing ranting demagogues!
ANother sad day for the staff losing their jobs. I haven’t watched 10 News First for months but I am feeling so sad that the Perth bulletin will be dumped in favor for a news bulletin coming from Sydney studios. (I was so worried that Perth viewers will have 2-3 hour delayed news).
At the end of last year, Narelda left 10 News First Perth where she moved to Sydney to present Studio 10. Monika Kos replaced Narelda as news presenter of Channel 10 Perth in January 2020. Today I heard of the breaking news that the Perth bulletins will be axed in favor of a national bulletin. I am so worried that Monika Kos will depart 10 Perth after 9 months.
Remember the joy when CBS Corp acquired TEN?
Viacom have always been ruthless. I’m still worried they will axe Neighbours, they planned to axe the neighbours channel 5 deal in the UK a few years back.
Oh no, it’s a shame. Mon was fantastic. When Mon was at Network 10, Perth news ratings were roughly around 60-80k between 5-6pm timeslot. I will miss her so much.
Also, weatherman, Michael Schultz. Michael Schultz has been part of Channel 10 for 22 years. I also liked him as weather presenter - he was professional, humble, and brings a lot of information coming from Bureau of Meteorology. I will be sad to see Schultz go.
As long as there’s still a big audience for Neighbours in the UK, the show will continue.
Having said that, I wonder whether there are more cuts still to come for 10? For example, I find it hard to see (in light of this news centralisation) how the network can continue to justify paying $10+ million (excluding the contra component) each year to have the rights to 4 days of horse racing (aka the Melbourne Cup Carnival).
