This was coming out of Melbourne (at this time) yes?
Yes, think it had only moved a few months prior at this stage - that 2nd studio backdrop was brand new.
And that was Nikki Dwyer’s final year at Ten News Adelaide before being replaced by Kelly Nestor in 2001.

such a vast difference to the TEN-10 set. I think Sydney got a set similar to Melbourne’s in 1987 (I think @NewsWeary will have a better memory than most).
TEN-10 changed or revamped sets as often as they changed newsreaders during the mid to late '80s. I think ATV kept the same basic design and huge desk for a number of years because their ratings were stable and consistently competitive in that era. By 1987 Sydney moved away from the futuristic spaceship flight deck design used during the Tim/Katrina/Sanders years and went with something less ostentatious, reminiscent of the Melbourne set, when they welcomed Steve Liebman, Rex Mossop and Robyn Johnston.
Melbourne set in 1987 had just a few minor changes
Then Set No 1 in 1988
And with the Olympics in 1988 came Set No 2
I haven’t seen that set before. How long did that stay on air?
Fake newsrooms / computer monitors / TV screens were big in the late 80s.
Probably from the launch of the “X TEN” logo in January until the Olympics in September? Think Ten Sydney also had a version of that set (with a different cityscape background of course) around the same time period.
It definitely lasted until the 10 TV Australia period in mid 1989. The news did under go changes at that point but I cannot remember if there were further set changes at that time.
When it became Ten News, but the name change came without any real fanfare or promotion AFAIK. I suspected at the time that the name change from Eyewitness News to Ten News was to follow with TV0 becoming Channel 10 in Brisbane and finally being “Ten” nationally – although I later understand that TVQ held off the change until Expo ended a month later.
I love how they had so many presenters that one would be banished to a chair off the side of the desk.
Reminds me of that Fast Forward sketch

and Eddie’s “Around the Grounds”.
I believe that set lasted until 1991, just with a tight camera angle on the TVs behind DJ was used.
It seems it was at this some of the network bulletins were starting to build a consistent network look for news. While not identical, you can see they’re trying to achieve a shared identity.
