I love that look. I seem to recall they initially played the USA Headline News intro graphics. I can’t recall the year but perhaps it was near this time. Or maybe I was dreaming

Rare vision you have there. Looks good! Tens Sunday news was always at 5:30 in the 80’s (apart from a brief break in 1987) as the league replay went from 6-7:30.
This time I believe the preseason games were live so 10’s Sunday news was first at 5.
Would u like some fries with your news update?
I’m just trying to chase who 10’s Sydney weekend presenters were from say 1982 to the centralisation of the weekend bulletin. This is who I’ve got so far (this includes news, sport, weather)
1982 - Ron Wilson and Sue Smith (don’t have sport or weather)
1983-1984 - Ann Sanders, sport with Ron Casey (weather I don’t have)
1985 - Ann Sanders and Tony Murphy (sport and weather I don’t have)
1986 - unsure
1987 - news and weather Ann Sanders; sport with David Fordham
1988 - Ron Wilson and Claudia Emery; sport with Ian Maurice; weather with Nathan Wood
1989 - Ron Wilson and Anne Fulwood; Sport with Graeme Hughes; weather with Dal Myles
1990 - Anne Fulwood; sport with Graeme Hughes; weather I don’t have
1991-centralisation; Ron Wilson; sport with Bill Woods; weather uncertain.
McDonalds’ sponsorship of 10’s news updates is ingrained in my 90’s TV memories. Up there with National Mutual sponsoring the 9 news updates.
…along with Colonial sponsoring Seven’s News Updates.
These days, I think the 8.30pm (or thereabouts) updates on all three commercial networks are sponsored by Mitsubishi!
Great clips - thanks for the uploads! I haven’t seen vision of Anne Fulwood (please come back to TV!) from the ‘Ten Evening News’ era. I am a bit confused though - didn’t the 5pm bulletin only happen during the next Ten Eyewitness News era (it went from 6pm to 5pm during the early days)?
BTW, a fun side note - political reporter Maxine McKew went on to make her own political history in 2007!
The 5pm bulletin may have been a special for that day? Looks to be national.
I believe it’s a local news service. 10 was more invested in news then.
The reason it’s at 5pm was because 10 had the rights to the pre season rugby league tournament. They had one game live in the afternoon, then the news at 5, followed by the second game late afternoon/early evening.
Thanks for the detail. I suspected it was pre-empting an event of some sort.
Correct, it was the Channel 10 Challenge at Goulburn (as seen during sports). It was Knights v Bears and then Canberra v Balmain following the news.
