Ten Network - Programs and Schedules

Monday

I feel like 10 will want to try re-enter the morning space in some capacity again - probably not “morning show”-esque, but perhaps an additional news bulletin, such as at 10/11am.

Are they still doing 2 survivor seasons?

I’m hoping for some of the following:

  • Big shiny show- big brother or AGT
  • Family feud- comedian hosted prime time edition
  • New game show - The price is right or Lingo to partner with deal or no deal and trim the project back to 30 mins
  • Traitors - celeb edition (and filmed os)
  • The Panel - year long
  • Talkin’ bout your generation reboot with micallef
  • Tommy (little) and Carrie (Bickmore) talk show
  • some new Aussie drama!!!

Would be happy if we got just one of the above!!!

Yet feel like we are going to be stuck with more dog shows and a local version of Sort Your Life Out.

Yes.

Sounds like a whole heap of old rehashed shows. Which, I believe, is why 10 are in the hole they are in. 10 was known for being different. They now just revive shows 7 had 10 years ago.

10 should be bold and really go for it. Be different to the others.

Ok. So hit us with some suggestions.

I reckon they should start hitting the sports market. Even though they don’t have the rights to the actual sports they should start airing NRL, AFL, A-League, Cricket panel shows. Live just like The Front Bar.

Make 10 the destination to get all your sports news.

Yeh and may also earn them some stripes when pitching for rights.
Sporty version of the cheap seats would be good. Surely there’s enough sport content from across the globe to fill an ep a week.

Correct. Long term investment too. If they were successful in obtaining a sports contract they would have already got long running and successful sports programs to complement the coverage.

Back to live Big Brother could have an audience if it’s marketed properly.

I don’t think any of the other stuff mentioned works at 10 because it doesn’t have the audience that 7 & 9 have to be able to bring back old shows (e.g, I can see Golden Batchelor having good ratings cause it’s on 9 compared to if 10 showed it in 2025)

So it would have to be new and exciting shows that are marketed properly to bring people to 2

This sounds like a show I’d watch - and a gameshow for 6.30 (move Project to 7pm for all I care it’d probably do better there IMO).

Plus a good big name show (Big Brother & AGT as mentioned)
and some soccer could make 10 somewhat competitive (especially in Brissie with Sharyn’s news report doing well)

I wish I had the answers. But this is the network that changed the 7pm timeslot to reality and then the tentpole realities. They know how to change the viewers habit. So they need to do what they do well and that is doing something different. And the one thing FTA can do that streaming can’t is live TV. So that is where I would start.

A good start to this would be bringing back the Late News & Sports Tonight combo.
Also reintroduce ST back into the 5pm news.

I would easily watch the late news if Sports Tonight was in it.

They have some good post 8:30 shows with HYBPA, TCS on Monday & Tuesdays (which they should maybe expand so they start earlier?) & then Gogglebox Thursday (20 weeks a year). They just need 7:30pm shows that rate. They only have 2 really with Survivor and MasterChef. A 3rd would help

I’m A Celebrity seems to be a decent show, so that helps.

What won’t help 10 is having two season’s of Survivor - Seven tried this with My Kitchen Rules, and viewer fatigue + decline in quality + going up against MAFS lead to viewers turning off.

Same happened with Seven’s Big Brother - had two season’s within a year, lead to viewer fatigue + lack of live component and terrible production (and casting) choices lead to it’s own decline to being axed.

The second season is much shorter, will have a bigger international appeal I think too.

But agree, doubling down on seasons of mildly popular shows isn’t a great strategy.

Seven did the same with MKR - had a shorter second season to celebrate 10 years - still contributed to it’s decline.

Remember The House Of Hell?..

Now maybe Ten needs to look at one off concepts to stay relevant
