Nine are only doing a 20 minute budget special, I don’t think a 30 minute bulletin is warranted purely for a budget update and they have no business producing a full news bulletin. Not required in this instance IMO.
Nine are doing a 20 minute budget special because of the Cricket World Cup coverage that starts on the main channel in Sydney and Melbourne. The Latest is airing a budget special at a “special time”.
Just once in a blue moon, 10 could air a special 30 minute Late Night News service. A majority of it covers the budget, then cover some other news sports and weather to round out the 30 minutes.
Or if they actually want the project to be credible and taken seriously they should air a special late night edition on important dates like budgets, elections and key news events. It’s not as if they can’t plan in advance for it, and can use interviews in the following days news coverage.

Updated 30/10/22
Studio 10 at 4 in the morning?
Might get some viewers that aren’t comatose.
No Bull in the schedule
It’s disappointing that 10 doesn’t have a new show to replace Gogglebox in the Thursday 7.30pm timeslot.
I mean, it is very 10 when they shove Ambulance repeats to fill their empty slots.
Well they could do a Nine and slot in Two And A Half Men repeats if you like.
Claremont: A Killer Among Us.
Two-Part True Crime Special Event. Coming Soon To 10 And 10 Play.
In the mid-1990s young women started to go missing from an upmarket and popular nightlife strip in one of Perth’s wealthiest and safest suburbs, Claremont.
A serial killer was preying on innocent women, and it sent shockwaves through the community.
This was the start of Australia’s longest running, biggest and most expensive manhunt. For over 20 years, the perpetrator avoided capture and managed to hide in plain sight.
Through exclusive and unprecedented interviews with surviving victims, journalists and former police detectives, forensic experts and the officers at the centre of the investigation who for over two decades relentlessly worked the case, Claremont: A Killer Among Us tells the inside story of the Claremont investigation, right up to its dramatic conclusion.
Claremont: A Killer Among Us is produced by Joined Up Films for Network 10, with funding from Screenwest.
Well this came out of nowhere? No mention at their 2023 upfronts?
Also reminds me that 10 didn’t bother to mention anything about The Family Court Murders drama they’re in development with Easy Tiger (Colin From Accounts, The Twelve, Doctor Doctor) which was announced almost a year ago in November 2021.
It was not mentioned at 10’s upfronts last year either.
Seems to me 10 is trying to spoil the Claremont Murders mini-series which will premiere on Seven in 2023. (Screenwest provided production funding to both 10’s documentary and Seven’s mini-series)
Not the first, nor the last time our commercial networks commission similar programming or on similar subjects and smart of 10 really to get the jump on Seven to get in first if theirs is ready to go.
Though both will be seemingly quite different, 10’s is a documentary and Sevens is a dramatizations of the events that happened.
The ABC also commissioned a series on The Family Court Murders around the same time as the 10 too.
i cant find anything searching the family court murders on 10
All’s fair in love and war in Commercial tv land. Aren’t 7 trying to spoil 10’s Melbourne Cup day?
I posted this in November 2021.
Admire their creativity in at least trying to promote it differently and leveraging overseas talent to do that - it still won’t rate however.
