Networks would ordinarily never confirm interest in acquiring certain rights so publicly, at least enthusiastically, and this is no different. Likewise, sporting bodies don’t ordinarily talk about these things. He’s drumming up interest and trying to achieve the highest price possible for the league.
10 have gone aggressive with sports rights before and while it hasn’t always worked out I’m sure them looking at this would be no different - if the economics are right. No point paying through the nose if it’s a loss maker or you don’t have the money.
I think you’re on the money sometimes with your analysis, but your disdain for Beverley and Para / 10 seems to cloud your judgement on the realities sometimes.

What do you think of 10’s 2025 lineup so far:
- Excellent - don’t change a thing
- Very Good - I’m sure they will announce other stuff later (Thank God You’re Here, Shark Tank, etc)
- It’s alright - Could use some new life, more drama etc

Given Beau Ryan is there, I’d say that’s a strong indication that it’s likely to return, unlike how none of the Studio 10 team were there last year before it was announced that it was getting the chop.

Overall 10 has come a long way, they clearly have a solid lineup of reality, comedy and variety shows now days.
News is still a work in progress, but it’s improving. Sport is still the biggest weak link for 10 and Paramount. Morning and Breakfast is also an up hill battle.

Sport for now - if they get NRL 7 is about to be quivering in their boots as being the lowest ranked network

I think the problem is these days you need a winter sport to succeed, however in the late 1980s and early 1990s Nine was number 1. It wasn’t until 1992 Nine had the NRL/ARL

If they’re getting the NRL then surely Nine will be concerned, but then again I think it’s all a ploy to get more money out of Nine.
Anyway back to 10 I’d agree sport is a huge issue. The big events they have/had are good but not having the Melbourne Cup’s definitely a loss.

Seven still has AFL, which AFAIK still rates better nationally than NRL.
