And to think Ten have only recently gotten around to screening Ten HD, and even then only a handful of shows, at that.
Perhaps by the middle of this century, Ten (and Seven) will have gotten 4K up and running PROPERLY.

TEN HD Northern NSW will launch midnight Wednesday September 21st. Just a week away.
What is changing?
From 21 September, TEN HD will be broadcast in the northern NSW markets of Newcastle,
Tamworth, Taree, Lismore, Coffs Harbour and Gold Coast in Queensland.
TEN programs such as the Big Bash League, V8 Supercars, Formula One, Australian Survivor, The
Bachelorette, The Wrong Girl and MasterChef will be presented in crystal clear high definition.
Which areas are affected by this change?
Northern NSW: Newcastle, Tamworth, Taree, Lismore, Coffs Harbour and Gold Coast.
How do I get TEN HD?
If you have a HD TV (Mpeg 4 capable) you will be able to receive TEN programs in HD on channel 52.
In the unlikely event that your TV cannot access all the Ten channels, a simple rescan or retune
should fix the problem. This function is generally available via the TV setup or installation menu. If
you are unsure how to use this function we suggest you check the manufacturer's instructions or
website.
If you can receive TEN, 11 and ONE but can't receive TEN HD, Aspire and YesShop, it's likely your TV
is not capable of receiving MPEG-4 transmissions used to deliver these channels. This newer
transmission format is not supported by some older sets.
What are the new channel numbers?
The only change is to introduce TEN HD to channel 52. No other channels change.
CH 5 TEN (SD) Mpeg 2
CH 50 ONE Mpeg 2
CH 51 TEN (SD) Mpeg 2
CH 52 TEN HD Mpeg 4
CH 54 YESSHOP Mpeg 4
CH 55 ELEVEN Mpeg 2
CH 56 ASPIRE Mpeg 4
What happens to ONE?
ONE will revert to a standard definition (SD) channel.
Will I need to change the recording on my PVR?
If you have recorded a series on the series link function and you want to record the HD service
instead, you will need to change this on your PVR so that you are now recording channel number 52.

Basically, Ten and Nine are nationally avail to 95% of that nation in HD now
And 7/Prime7?
Just 3 markets of about 25 covering just 35% of the nation
Here’s the website link for all the FAQ’s about Ten HD coming to Northern NSW.
So SC are using Nine’s LCN format now.
I had thought SC Ten would use Channel 53 for HD, since metro Ten uses 13 (so the last digit is the same). But then that doesn’t ring true for One or Eleven anyhow.
Perhaps the logic here is 13 x 4 = 52.
Let’s hope then that it will be four times as good as metro Ten HD, which wouldn’t be hard since Ch.13 has been disappointing.
Good to see that SCA are launching Ten HD Northern NSW (they’re no longer branding the station as SC10, are they?) next Wednesday.
On Ten HD Northern NSW/Gold Coast, I’d probably expect a similar of native HD content to Ten HD in Sydney, but at least they’re still doing better than Seven (in most areas) and it’s affiliates when it comes to broadcasting their main channel in HD!
Ten HD and 9HD basically are national now.
Divergent looks good and in correct aspect ratio.
Hopefully a good sign for some of these upcoming “fast-tracked” US shows, which should be in HD.

Divergent looks good and in correct aspect ratio.[/quote]Just a shame there’s a hideous Bachelorette in-program promotional watermark in use during it.
Still no placeholder on LCN 52 for Ten HD here in Newcastle.
Ten HD is now on air here in Coffs Harbour. Looks great so far. Looks like the HD bug is inserted manually as per SCA 9HD
The HD bug on SCA9 is automated - hence the errors when timing changes aren’t communicated effectively.
Or do you mean that it appears to be added in at the SCA end rather than coming in the feed from TEN? Because that makes sense as it means SCA only need to receive one feed instead of two.
I’m no expert on this but it would appear that SCA add the HD bug themselves because the feed from Ten just has the Ten bug sans HD. And at the start of Studio 10 this morning, the HD bug came on well before the Ten bug appeared.
Also the LCNs do not say SC10 anymore, we got TEN Coffs Harbour, and of course TEN HD Coffs Harbour.
Personally I would’ve thought that it would be more logical for SCA to have Ten Northern NSW HD on LCN-53 (like how Ten HD in the metro areas is on LCN-13), but what do I know…
Might be OK for some networks but I can’t see Ten wanting to put Eleven on LCN 13.
I think you’re right …
Here is a live “side by side” shot of TEN HD Sydney (on the left) and TEN HD Newcastle on the right. (Pictures are out of Sync as Sydney is about 4 secs ahead of Newcastle).
The HD bug on Newcastle is softer.
I think that some time in the near future, One and Eleven may be rebranded to enhance their association with Network Ten like what Nine did with 9Gem and 9Go! when they launched 9Life and what Seven had from the start with 7two and 7mate. Something like tenworld for One and tenyouth for Eleven would fit their target audience and current content nicely. Once this happens, they can move the channels anywhere they like.
This is only wishful thinking, though. But its about time that Ten had a major think about their branding for their multichannels as its remained virtually unchanged since they launched (One HD changing to One is the only real change they’ve made, and that was all the way back in 2011).
The “HD” addition from SCA Ten HD Northern NSW also appears not to be lined up correctly with the text in the logo unlike the metro version. Much like the watermarks on SCA Nine HD in other regional markets, I suppose.
As for the branding of One and Eleven (which is off topic I know, but worth responding to), I think we’ll probably eventually see the names changed but not a Seven/Nine-style of branding because of WIN. On-Air Presentation wise, I agree that One desperately needs a relaunch however Eleven’s current On-Air branding that was launched only in March last year (I believe) is fine for now IMO.
