Ten HD

Probably no NBN in South Yarra

Doesnt that come back to cost?

I guess we really should be complementing Nine (who don’t even have a Nine HD thread). They are really leading the pack in HD.

In terms of content (aside from the mix of what channel is HD) pretty well every time I have turned on Seven HD it has been HD content.

The only issue may be Ten does not have sufficient fibre/ bandwidth to take HD feeds at its end.

Doesnt that come back to cost?

Sorry - yes. What I was getting at - it doesn’t cost anything extra for the US studio to deliver Ten HD content over SD content. But if Ten’s facilities are not equipped with enough HD equipment at their end - there would be a cost to upgrade to injest HD meterial. Yes. But it’s 2016 - HD has been around 10 years. The equipment is quite literally the cheapest it has ever been

Something seems seriously (no pun intended) wrong with Ten HD’s Perth feed. Last night The Project didn’t look like it was broadcasted in HD, nor The Talk today too. The watermark also looks less sharp. It’s not a TV/set-top box problem, because it appears the same on another TV.

I agree. They definitely have the most HD content of any of the three commercial HD channels broadcasting in Sydney. Infact, I think the quality of Nine HD might look a bit better than it was at launch but maybe that’s just me.

Seven need to hurry up and get the main channel running in HD for all markets ASAP and as for Ten…

…and in Sydney:

The SD channel looks equally poor. Hopefully just a glitch!

Far out! That looks bloody terrible.
Someone needs to change that bug from “HD” to “LD” :stuck_out_tongue:

I agree. Almost worse than WIN SD quality…almost.

Ten HD is useless

At least sport is in HD

What sport?

I just realised that the degraded Ten HD quality comes shortly after the signing of the WIN Network affiliation deal. Cue the conspiracy theories, haha! :stuck_out_tongue:

But seriously, I wonder if @lexington might be able to give some insight into the currently degraded quality of Ten HD?

UPDATE: Back to normal for the Ten HD quality (and the One watermark too, which was brighter before). I think I know what this means…

V8s, Formula 1, Rugby Union and maybe MotoGP and BBL

What popular sport then?

BBL aside which has yet to be seen in HD.

That’s the usual weekly ‘disaster recovery’ testing. Usually Wednesday’s from 11-3 AEST.

Yeah?

Just a guess but, main control handed to Melbourne? I heard something about the watermark being brighter during Ten HD’s launch, could be wrong though.

One’s watermark was/is definitely brighter than usual during this “Disaster Recovery” testing that lexington referred to, the others looked pretty normal although the picture quality of Ten was quite degraded!

Ten HD watermark currently only showing the “HD” part in Melbourne - with no Ten logo.

Same here in Perth.

It’s now returned to normal.
