Ten Cricket Coverage

I said EDT for a reason…
I’m not sure it’s a good move but that’s what they are going with. I guess as long as the TV is on one of the Ten Network channels Ten are happy.

I thought the hurricanes had won before.

Edit: just looked and they only made a final. So it will be good to have a new winner and A new city to host the final.

Melbourne’s already hosted a final (Stars hosted BBL05 at the MCG)

It’ll only be a new city hosting if the Strikers win.

Not great for AFLW season opener tonight.

In that the two markets with it on main channel, have BBL teams in a semi-final

Well it’s nice to see Ten are now treating cricket as if it doesn’t care about the sport.

Instead of missing Sunday nights version of Poject, Zclass people in the jungle. They instead requested cricket Australia to move the final game on Sunday to 4:45est.

So the whole season played at night under lights, grand final is instead put to the afternoon shift so they don’t miss a night of top line up on Ten!

If they really wanted to show why they are different to Nine when it comes to cricket or show why they think they could boardcast it differently, than it should be played at its normal time slot! This is a shocking move by Ten! At the end of the game people will just flick off and change too Married in the kitchen rules on Seven and Nine, due to the cricket expected finish time. Instead of trying to win the night off the back on the cricket, and keeping people away from My kitchen marriage is a stranger.

We also know from the summer; more Australians will flick over to the news on 9 & 7 instead of staying on the cricket, and flick back when the news is over! Oh why can you be so stupid with sport Ten? :man_facepalming:

It’s a 4.15pm EDT start not 4.45pm EDT.

That makes it even worse

I happen to agree, they should’ve buggered that Celebrity show off for the night once again and let BBL take precedence over it. It should start at 6.15pm AEDT not 4.15pm AEDT.

TEN are probably hoping people will watch the cricket AND Celebrity, and hope they stick around for future episodes of Celebrity as well.

ahahaha. cause Nine haven’t screwed over Cricket Australia? (not that this is any way a screw over) … say the rest of the T20 internationals this summer? Where are they on FTA again?

Where is the proof ten requested it?

I don’t think it’s all Network TEN’s idea.

After all, it’s only the second BBL game this year to be played on a school night, and Cricket Australia would be keen not to annoy parents who don’t want a midnight bedtime for their kids.

This is a family competition, after all.

It’s the same reason winter codes rarely finish games after 6pm on Sundays.

What a finish!

I thought the Renegades were going to win until maybe the last over, when they needed 13 off the last… Proved to be the proverbial 1 too many.

Though Jake Lehmann will be thanking his lucky stars that his 2 dropped catches weren’t the deciding factor.

Very disappointed with the result. The Renegades had wickets in hand but Kieron Pollard did not bat sensibly, he just swung his bat and tried to hit every ball hard.
So either Adelaide or Hobart will be first time BBL champions, but Melbourne (both Stars and Renegades) will have to wait another season to get the chance to reach the final.

Stars did host the final against the Sydney Thunder in 2016, but lost that.

Cricket Australia’s decision though

Bad luck Renegades, damn. Stars fan myself, but gotta support your home town at this stage of the competition :pensive:

Ten will be a bit concerned about the ratings now, two of the smallest teams in two of the lowest rating markets (one regional). It’ll still be big and of course watched nationally, but yeah.

Kudos Adelaide

Melbourne Renegades are The only team that have never made the Big Final.
Which other teams have made the Big Final?
Adelaide Strikers - 1
Brisbane Heat - 1 (won 1)
Hobart Hurricanes - 2
Melbourne Stars - 1
Perth Scorchers - 5 (won 3)
Sydney 6ers - 3 (won 1)
Sydney Thunder - 1 (won 1)
