Ten Cricket Coverage

Who cares.

What they should do is start Celebrity on a Monday. At best, the show could start at 8pm following Big Final.

Will this clash with the Australian Open finals?

We know what happened this year (BBL final against women’s Aus Open final - the latter beat it & the former could’ve been so much bigger).

If the BBL final goes head-to-head with the Australian Open Men’s Final, it could fail big time for CA & Ten.

2.7m for this years Aus Open final (still the biggest program of the year).

A quick google search tells me that the BBL final won’t go head to head with Men’s Final.

With the New Perth stadium almost ready in time for early 2018, can we see semi-finals to be played at the new stadium? THat way it will build a huge crowd.

Would have been a pretty terrible joke.

I don’t think so.

The Australian Open women’s singles final on January 27 will clash with the final match of the BBL season (Heat v Renegades at The Gabba starting at 7.20pm). There is an earlier match at the MCG between the Stars and the Hurricanes starting at 4.10pm AEDT. If that match finishes on time, it will still allow fans to rush across to Melbourne Park for the start of the tennis.

  1. Yes it would.

  2. But it’s okay, it’s not going head to head.

The Sunday Telegraph reports former England cricketers Michael Vaughan and Graeme Swann will join Ten’s BBL commentary team for this season. No doubt they will also provide a lot of input on the Ashes series.

More Stars For TEN’s Big Bash Team

Michael Vaughan OBE And Graeme Swann Join As Special Guest Commentators

Starts 19 December

With just three months to go until the highly anticipated return of the KFC Big Bash League, Network Ten is delighted to announce that British cricket legends Michael Vaughan OBE and Graeme Swann will join the commentary team for the 2017-18 KFC Big Bash League, starting this December.

Vaughan assured his place in cricket history with England’s historic Ashes victory in 2005 and has gone on to become one of the sport’s most respected commentators. Swann, once ranked the best spin bowler in the world, played an integral part in slaying the Aussies in the 2010-11 Ashes series. With the Ashes on our doorstep once again, the duo will no doubt prove popular with Aussie fans despite their English heritage.

Australian cricket legend Andrew Symonds, current Australian cricket team coach Darren Lehmann, former New Zealand cricket captain Brendon McCullum and crowd favourite Kevin Pietersen will also return to the commentary box, joining regular expert commentators Adam Gilchrist AM, Ricky Ponting AO, Mark Waugh AM, Damien Fleming, Mel Jones, Lisa Sthalekar, Roz Kelly, Mark Howard and Andy Maher to complete an all-star line-up of commentators throughout the season.

Network Ten Executive, Big Bash, David Barham, said: “The addition of Vaughan and Swann to Network Ten’s commentary team ensures that our coverage of the KFC Big Bash League will take on a new dimension this summer.

“Network Ten has the most exciting and contemporary cricket commentary team and in an Ashes year, the Brits will provide insight and humour for cricket fans around the country.

“The KFC Big Bash League has gone from strength to strength on Network Ten over the past four years and we look forward to another successful season,” he said.

Network Ten will broadcast 43 KFC Big Bash League matches in 48 days over the coming summer, including six double-headers. With all matches of the extended season broadcast in prime time, live, free and exclusive on TEN or ONE, fans will not miss a minute of the action.

Is there a reason why some games are on ONE? I know that WA has full prime-time coverage on ONE, while rest of the states have the games on TEN.
Any word whether Brisbane will have complete coverage of BBL on TEN HD?

I dare say coverage will be as per previous years in Brisbane where the first hour will be broadcast on ONE where it conflicts with the regular scheduling of The Project before switching to the main channel.

PerthNow has announced that The Scorchers will open the new Perth stadium with 3 matches against England Lions later this year. However, their home matches will still be played at The WACA Ground. I am expecting that Scorchers will play at the new Perth stadium in February if they make the finals.

Every second sport seems to want to open the new ground in Perth with something, first Rugby League, then AFLW, now this. Just waiting for the Glory to announce a move, or the Hopman Cup to stage the final there just to cheese everyone off.

Mumbrella reports Mamamia has signed a deal with Cricket Australia and will live stream 47 Women’s Big Bash League matches this season, excluding the other 12 which will be shown live on Ten and One. So while Ten is unable to stream the BBL and WBBL matches on tenplay, a third party website can do it for free.

There’s 59 WBBL games though.

According to The Sunday Telegraph, Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist and Damien Fleming have signed up to call the Ashes series for BT Sport. They will commentate the first three tests before the BBL starts on December 19, and may not be available for BBL coverage over the Christmas / New Year fortnight, given the competition overlaps with the fourth test in Melbourne and the fifth test in Sydney.

Weak contracts at Ten? These are Ten’s main commentators for the BBL and they’re allowed to wander over to BT Sport for a fortnight?

This will probably mean more airtime for the insufferable Andy Maher.

Andy Maher shouldn’t be on TV to begin with!
