Not strictly on-topic, but this article from The Age, 25 August 1989 (via Google) sheds some light on uncertainty within the new 10 TV Australia, barely a month after its big re-launch, and the axing of Public Eye (formerly Page One)
Look what I found… Sharyn Ghidella, Peter Greste, John Riddell, Sue Baron, Peter Sellen, Kevin Crease…the list goes on! Think of this as a little gift from me to you. Adelaide-born, we used to go on family road trips every summer back to the home town. From our video camera - that we won - age about 12. enjoy!!
By the way, I put it here because, well, I have to put it somewhere I have more of this crap too! Hope u like this little gem. I always liked the Adelaide stations.
By the way, I improved at the whole videoing the TV thing - see NBN 1991!
By the way, this was the first time I ever heard that “Headline News” version of the theme! Ten Sydney didn’t air it until about three years later. I was pretty amazed to hear that version in Adelaide.
We often associate the slogan “The Entertainment Network” with the 1991 relaunch, but going by this “Big Movies” Promo it had been around Ten for some time before that:
Mind you, the most interesting promo in that batch was the one for “Sydney with Mike Gibson” because it was for a week of fill-in programs from Larry Emdur (Gee, I wonder if he’d go onto have a long and successful career on Australian television! ):
Isn’t that the generic/national ident?
If I recall correctly each local version had the city name below.
Once they ditched the “TV Australia” bit (copyright infringement?), I liked that ident & logo in the ident & PRG, but not so much for the promo version.
There was a generic “10 TV Australia” Ident without any city names underneath. I could be wrong but wasn’t that used for a while (Early 1990?) after the city names were dropped but before the “TV Australia” moniker got dropped?
