For the iPhone Air, Apple is going back to basics - in terms of the sound hardware.

That could be another thing to consider when deciding which iPhone to get.

I think there’s several reasons for the Air:

People will buy it primarily as a show piece of how thin it is instead of buying it as a practical phone.

Marketing tactic to get people who want a larger screen to get the Pro Max as the Plus has been canned to make way for the air.

Also could be a vanity project for Apple on how much their engineers can shrink the tech that they can then use on future phones.

I think it’s a bit like the iPhone X - it a hint at the direction they want to take with future phones

Are you sure that’s world wise ? I’m pretty sure in Australia the uptown air will have the physical sim too.

No, all Air variants are esim only - iPhone 17 Air will be eSIM only worldwide | TechCrunch

My Android phone received an upgrade this morning. It got a new interface and more spaces for apps (4 x 6 grid instead of 4 x 5 grid as previously).

What brand of phone do you have?

Coincidentally, I also received that update yesterday. I’ve got a Google Pixel.

The Google Pixels are always the first to get new major Android OS updates as they are released. This is because the Android operating system is developed by Google itself.

Phone manufacturers in the Android ecosystem customise the OS with their skins and apps for their suites of phones, which means new major Android OS updates don’t come until later for those users.

Samsung is one notable example, they customise Android OS with One UI, which is Samsung’s custom skin for their range of smartphones that run on Android OS.

But Samsung had this upgrade a few months ago. Google Pixel is not the first to have the4x6 grid.
