Gabe Hodson (overnight newsreader based out of Melbourne) has been redeployed to do National Rural News for the network.
I’ll be curious to see if the overnight news comes out of Sydney or Melbourne from next week.

I want to know how she is allowed so much extra leave. I’m not against it as she’s a horrible listen, but still, I haven’t known other presenters to enjoy even more leave than their colleagues.
contract negotiations? And pay probably adjusted accordingly? I don’t know, just speculating.
I don’t listen to the program but I have seen some insta reels of segments from her program and her shouting hysterics is off-putting. Have something useful for your commentary not just yelling feigned outrage. Maybe she offers more substantial gems of wisdom at other times but the clips that 3AW chooses to highlight don’t shed that light.
Probably to go on her Luxury Escapes holiday packages.
3AW roster for the next two weeks
Overnights: Phil O’Neil (National show)
Breakfast: Jimmy Bartel & Mark Allen
Mornings: Heidi Murphy
Afternoons: Laura Spurway
Drive: Shane McInnes
Nights: Peter ‘Grubby’ Stubbs
EDIT: Tom Elliott still on this morning despite Heidi being advertised as filling in.
Possible it changed due to him having his surgery?
Well done to Shane McInnes and the Drive team for the interview with Pauline Hanson today. It’s gained a lot of traction in newspapers and social media, and was picked up on TV news tonight.
what was so good about the interview? We know she only talks to “friendly” media so i am guessing it wasn’t exactly a hard-hitting interview.
I’m not necessarily saying it was a great interview - rather I’m saying 3AW will be thrilled that grabs of the audio made it into the 6pm news and became leading stories in The Age and The Herald Sun. Good publicity for the station.
ok, fair point, though 3AW hardly needs the publicity it’s the #1 radio station ![]()
But it loves to tell you about it.
Grabs of Hanson were also played during Overnights this morning, so 3AW certainly got the most out of the interview. With Overnights currently being fully networked out of 2GB, the audio was broadcast right across Tapt’s network, as well as to its syndicated affiliate stations, giving it an even wider audience.
Heidi on next week, Tom announced at the end of Fridays program
Christie Cooper filling in for Heidi on the Sunday Morning program today.
No retakes, no do-overs and with a cold – Madelaine Burke has taken us behind the scenes as she records a morning bulletin for talk station 3AW in Melbourne.
Former 3AW presenter Derryn Hinch has passed away at the age of 82. Tributes on air at the moment.
What a contrast of what a drive presenter used to be like. Prepared to go to jail for certain topics, and would keep politicians to account.
Now they are too scared to not read off an autocue and talk about $30,000 holidays.
Some great tributes on-air this afternoon.
Derryn’s passing has made me realise that a lot of the AW personalities from the 90s/early 00’s are no longer with us.
Dean Banks, Keith McGowan, Ernie Sigley, Bruce and Phil, David Hookes and now Derryn have all departed.
Neil is the only one surviving from that main era to be honest.
and Ross & John, of course
