That author likes to present opinions and baseless speculation as factual news. It’s completely bonkers to suggest that the pair have been sacked because Tapt will poach a competitor’s brand new show in 4 months.

If they did that and made Grubby on 3AW redundant there will be an uproar. Get rid of Simon Owens show on Saturday night and put it there

The Weekend Break Facebook page has more or less said that Grubby will be back this summer.
Can’t see that happening - cheap and easy programming to produce, and it’s already a national show in the summer.

You seem to have it in for Simon. The show is really not that bad. It’s not supposed to be a polished product. His style of broadcasting and show works perfectly for the late night audience.
I don’t “have it in” for him at all. I just find it tacky and I can find him a bit arrogant. The presentation, the social media and the content. I can’t imagine those in Sydney enjoy it.
It’s also not a late night show it’s on from 6pm on a Saturday night.
Diary can reveal (Russel) Howcroft – who fronts 3AW’s top-rating breakfast show alongside (Ross) Stevenson – already has been forced to take a hefty haircut on his salary after renewing his network contract this month.
Word is (Arthur) Laundy agreed to match the amount the radio host had been paid previously by Nine Radio but that the billionaire pub baron wasn’t up for matching the contributions Howcroft had received from Nine’s television arm to help top up his pay packet.
Network sources have warned Stevenson and (Ben) Fordham, who have similar arrangements, will have their salaries similarly slashed when their respective contracts come up for renewal, too – and, make no mistake, we’re talking big bikkies.

What was he doing on Nine TV? I know he’s on ABC’s Gruen.

I don’t think he was on Channel 9 in any capacity.
The way the article is written, makes it sound like Nine’s more successful TV division was financially propping up their less successful radio division, and that this is coming to an end under the new Laundy ownership.

And I agree with @NewsKing about overpaid talk radio personalities.
Stevenson was already on multi-million dollar multi-year lucrative contracts some 15 years ago with John Burns, can’t begin to imagine the money he’s been on since.
Yes, sometimes ridiculous 20% shares and the biggest radio show in Australia, but he has always been one part of a duo, not matter how good he is in isolation and there have always been other stars at the station (Burns, Hinch, Mitchell to name a few).
Wonder what Jones or Hadley’s salaries were in comparison to Stevenson a few years back? Albeit different owners prior to 2020 and 2GB & 3AW were each under different owners before 2015.

Jacqui doesn’t even know who’s filling in when….as I posted a few weeks ago Shane is doing 2.5 weeks then Heidi the week after.
They should move Jacqui onto other projects and put Heidi on Drive permanently, she is a much better fit for the job.
