I though Bathie lived in Wahroonga…that was before she and Jimmy bought their farm in the country and seem to spend most of their days there now…
Good report… but a lot of the data has been based in pre-Covid times. Both cities have completely slowed in growth this year with international borders closed.
They’ve got it right…even if it is The Chaser.
I wouldn’t call it a feud, just a healthy rivalry.
I think the vast majority of residents in each will acknowledge that the other has it’s own strengths and unique qualities, even if they vehemently claim that their city is better.
correct! Well said.
I can think of some people in both Sydney and Melbourne who’d unquestionably claim their city is the best in the world though…
European housing website Nestpick has ranked Melbourne as the best place in the world to work from home, in a survey of 75 cities around the world. Dubai was second and Sydney third.
Melbourne predicted to overtake Sydney within 5 years as Australia largest city. Apparently these figures now take into account the pandemic.
And here we thought it had already happened?
no… why?
I know we’ve been down this path before, but the fact that Central Coast is included in the Sydney figures I find very curious. It’s 70km away and not a continuous urban area!! I understand there is national park there but still it’s dubious. If this is the case then Gold Coast should be included in Brisbane figures - it’s the same distance and IS a continuous urban area.
Well I thought MELB overtook Syd last year or some such?
Nope… don’t know where you got that one from.
You might be thinking of TV market size, which Melbourne has overtaken Sydney 2 years ago.
Way too many people if you ask me. We should be slowing the population rate rather than increasing it.
Or decentralising the population, grow the regional areas instead
The population in both cities has completely stalled over the past two years thanks to the pandemic. Sydney is predicted to loose more people to interstate migration, while Melbourne is expected to increase due to its affordability and high immigration intake.
