Supermarkets and Retail

I wouldn’t have pegged them on the same level is what I mean.
Like David Jones is above Target, Kmart is above Reject Shop/Dollarama.

I get you now. Yeah, I’d agree with what you’ve said, by that you’d have

Expensive brand names, then
Myer/David Jones then
Target, only slightly above
Big W/Kmart above
Daiso/Roni’s, then
TRS-Dollarama/Silly Solly’s/Choices then
Weird Hot Dollar esque store

What the media wants to get at is that Dollarama is aiming for the Kmart nutbag market with their own brands, like Kmart does.

Would Harris Scarfe go with Target here? Haven’t been into one of their stores since the Spotlight takeover.

Am I the only one surprised that they haven’t locked up the domain dollarama.com.au yet?

problem is that if you did - it can be taken off you. rules for a .au say NET.AU and .COM.AU are intended for commercial use by Australian businesses, the most common methods of proving eligibility are by providing an ABN or ACN; as most Australian businesses require one to operate.

if you can’t prove you have a related business to the domain they can just take it

It was a joke but it is trivial to demonstrate a business use of a domain if one were to try and use it properly. Squatting is easily overturned though so if you do nothing with it then they will take it.

They would have more success with a trademark dispute though. Much harder to counter those unless one also had a matching trademark.

Regardless it’s stupid of them not to have registered their matching domain names already. Even if they don’t plan on using them. Modern business 101: register matching domains.

Indeed it was. Forgot to put the relevant emoji. Sorry about that.

Not just that, Greater Union Morley is to close on September 14th :sob:

From the ABC Radio Perth post:

What are your memories of going to the cinemas in Morley? :backhand_index_pointing_down::speech_balloon:

The operators of Greater Union cinemas at Morley, in the Galleria shopping centre, have announced they are closing their doors after more than 30 years.

In a letter to its loyalty members the cinema, which opened in 1994, said its final screening would be on September 14,

“After many wonderful years bringing movie magic to the big screen, we are sad to announce that Greater Union Morley will be closing its doors,” the letter read.

“Greater Union Morley has been a much-loved part of the community and we’re grateful to everyone who’s shared their movie moments with us.”

Would’ve thought it would be included in the Galleria’s overhaul, but I guess not.

Fire now non-suspicious

Woolies has Christmas puddings and fruit mince pies on sale today so don’t worry that it’s more than three and a half months away.

What are “Things I will not be Puddin’ in my trolley” thanks Alex.

Didn’t they say that it takes at least a month for Christmas puddings to mature?

It always comes out the last week of August. Seem to be the time frame for most retailers.
