Catch.com.au just closed at 3PM AEST.
I’d say a whole bunch of inventory will appear at Kmarts and Targets Black Friday sales.
Amazon is pulling market share from all these players. I was a regular buyer of protein from catch. Then I moved to Amazon as it’s in the parcel locker the next day free with prime. Hard to beat.
I reckon Woolworths will offload its MyDeal division soon. BIGW will be sold to private equity is my guess also. Is no other exit option for that business.
The issue with MyDeal and the other online merchants is the time it takes to get the product and returns. With MyDeal and some of the others make it really painful to return something that might be faulty or not suitable where you have to provide pictures etc. With Amazon it is so easy you just package the product up usually in the box or satchel it came in and take it to your local post office or even the local news agency or pharmacy. They need to have a equally as good delivery and returns process as Amazon or don’t even try and compete with them as you will lose.
It appears MyDeal is loss making. Having a look at the H1 results I see a -$40m figure being quoted.
Compared to Catch, Mydeal is barely known. I’ve never seen it advertised. I would be surprised if it remains around considering how Woolies and BIGW have added similar marketplaces to their websites.
Isn’t the market place on Big W My Deal?
I think Woolworths is about to shed all its businesses that are somewhat not connected of Food. A lot of hints in recent updates. Petstock might need to hang on due to it being a recent purchase.
BIGW, MyDeal need to go. Perhaps they could package those two up together and flog off to PE.
I don’t think the asking price will be much. It will need a sizable injection however.
In the 80s, Maxi Mart was your typical big box discount department store, with plenty of free parking.
Although, interestingly, they had a $10 minimum spend.
Sorry for the late reply here, don’t really read this thread Store 24 is owned by the OTR Group, it is essentially a smaller offering of the OTR brand. There are a few of them in SA which is where the OTR brand began. A lot of the OTR purchased fuel station’s in the NT are currently in a transitional phase from Store 24 to OTR, and carrying either Puma fuel or Caltex.
This happened mid last year?
Sorry. Posted the wrong link. They had the old link next to today’s evacuation story.
Woolworths have made a slight mistake with their Rewards app this morning. They have offered 15000 points for a $160 shop for the next four weeks.
That’s $75 off a $160 shop! That will really help with the cost of living.
I know what they really mean is spending $160 a week for four weeks will get you a one-off $75 in Rewards points.
But it is very ambiguous.
I see that all the time. I had the same thought the first time I saw it.
Is Napier the only place that has two Woolworths opposite each other? Or does this happen in other places too?
Not Woolies, but in Clayton there are two Coles Supermarkets that share the same car park
Not exactly like that, but Nowra has two woolies within walking distance. 8 minutes if your fast enough.
Robina on the Gold Coast still have two Woolworths from memory. Why that is the case is anyone’s guess.
Didn’t Highpoint have two Wow’s also?
