Coles New World Christmas 1988 ad.

Almost feels like they were gonna give up on the Coles name. Jingle makes no mention and the only evidence is the Coles C at the beginning of the logo. Wonder what the backflip was?
Edit: itâs odd as other commercials from the same year with similar jingle have âColesâ clearly stated.
Maybe a weird one off?
Woolworths has Macro Free Range Chicken Breast on special for $14 a kg on Wednesday but recently increased the price to $15 a kg so the âspecialâ is just the old price it was 2 weeks ago.
What are they actually backflipping on?
We canât judge if theyâve backflipped on selling cheap and foreign-made Australia Day paraphernalia until next January.
The actual selling of flags?
I know itâs for a different reason, but still basically the same product.
Quite a common practice. For these shonky supermarkets. Doesnât look like anything will change.
I buy the Kleenex wellbeing tissues with Aloe Vera. A few weeks ago when I had the flu they were $3.60 and bought a box on the Tuesday at Woolies. When I got home I noticed another box was nearly empty, so next day on Wednesday went back to Woolies but they were now $4.50. What a shocker!
The following week, they were on special for $3.60.
Chemist Warehouse has them at the regular price of $3.99 which is now cheaper than Woolies and Coles.
Did they ever say the werenât going to sell flags?
They said the wouldnât be selling cheap and foreign-made Australia Day paraphernalia this year, and they didnât.
Kmart shoppers will not be able to return items without a receipt for âchange of mindâ refunds, with the retail giant enforcing the policy from August 1.
Funningly enough I always though it was their policy. I never had to return any items without reciept even if it didnât fit (clothes), always kept my receipts in a cigar box.
People have been playing games with those department store refunds for years. BIGW and Myer have been firm on a receipt for refund for a while. Iâm amazed itâs taken K and T this long. I mean, walk in, pick up a whole heap of stuff, head to the service counter for a refund without a receipt, just need to provide ID. Thatâs got fraud written all over it.
Seems a bit annoying if I brought something clearly Kmart sells ie an Anko product in its original packaging but didnât have a receipt it would be annoying to convince the staff to replace the product if it wasnât suitable. I understand why but I hope they donât be stupid about enforcing the policy too strictly.
I work at Kmart and am often on the door. We try and alleviate this by checking with the door person to see whether the customer returning the item without the receipt approached them. If not, the cameras are checked to see whether the person did walk in with it.
I think itâs a reasonable policy but I feel like there will be some unhappy customers to deal with. Returns without receipt are particularly common at Christmas as people send back unwanted gifts.
If they install clear signage at the checkout stating âNo returns or refunds accepted without a paper receiptâ and similar wording on the receipt itself, customers canât then really complain. I know they still will though.
But many people opt out of paper receipts.
Thatâs their fault then. Unless banking apps can do a more detailed description of whatâs purchased for them, that could be workable except could be digitally manipulated in Photoshop etc.
You canât at Kmart.
Iâve opted out of receipts for FlyBuys now. Wouldnât this be Kmart too?
