Supermarkets and Retail

I am afraid it will be this, even with larger store conversions.

It’ll shall be interesting. It’ll be nice to see in person what a K Hub store will look like once the lockdown ends/restrictions ease for Metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire residents and once the Echuca/Moama border reopens. I have a holiday cabin on the Murray in Moama.

It actually would’ve been better if Wesfarmers and Woolworths did a switch of locations as I feel the BigW store would be a better size for a K Hub.

A little like the American branding without the mart in the logo.

Yuck. Don’t like it. Just call it Kmart. Waste of money trying to duplicate branding.

I wouldn’t call it Kmart because the stores are clearly going to be significantly different. Kmart is a full department store while these Kmart Hubs are going to be carrying a smaller range.

What’s funny is that this is basically the old fashioned national brand main street variety store making a comeback, like Coles or Woolworths back in the day. Funnily enough, Kmart actually was spawned from the US variety chain Kresge (a competitor to FW Woolworth in the USA), with the big Kmart department stores totally replacing the variety stores.

Exactly right, although it’s an interesting move as many of these Target Country stores have been re-branded to “Target” in the last 3 years. However the problem with having one brand for a number of different store-formats is that it becomes challenging to market specials / catalogues without a bunch of disclaimers of where customers can and can’t find items. Kmart Hub as a brand for small-format stores is still close enough that it can share marketing, but it becomes much easier to draw a distinction of what items are available where.

Is it KHub or Kmart Hub?

Looks like First Choice Liquor have changed their logo/name:

Has been like that for at least 18 months

Longer even. They introduced it on a couple new concept / large format stores before rolling it out further.

Fair enough. It’s the first time I’ve noticed it, the old logo was still being used last month in the flybuys emails.

IGA X-press (in WA at-least) will be rebranded under a new “The Local Grocer” banner.

I think Liquorland is also preparing for a massive makeover. Lodged last week

Not sure that adding the word “Market” enhances the brand. It’s just more of a mouthful. First Choice Liquor was good as it was.

The logo is certainly an improvement on their past efforts.

I preferred these old logos.

Both are definitely done in-house. The new and old are just as bad as each other. No improvement, no downgrade.
