Supermarkets and Retail

I was surprised to see a US chain look like Coles… Winn Dixie including their down down ad.

Ironically enough, they were bought out by the American BI-LO in 2011.

gist is basicly one of the guys in charge of coles (Ian Mcleod) was in charge of Winn Dixie when they did there version of down down

I wonder how many requests Triple J got for that one…

One of Coles’ longest-serving employees, Brenda Palmer, has been honoured with a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for services to the Malvern community. She had been working at the supermarket for 52 years.

If Kmart Australia was successful with their USA push, we might have seen this…

That’s not real, right?

The first word is

I thought the ‘if’ referenced the Kmart move in Aus. And that was a product in America?

Only in America!

It wasn’t, @mubd has a history of these very accurate photoshops around this thread and others if you look closely.

I wonder if Kmart will one day rebrand as ‘Anko’. Would make sense if say Wesfarmers spun it off, sold Target and float ‘Anko Group’.

Bit more premium presence in the brand Anko looking at that USA store, compared to Kmart which is cheap, nasty, don’t want to be seen at sort of place. Those on more lucrative salaries probably would never visit a Kmart, BIGW yes.

Anko is a terrible name though. Would they really want Wanko jokes that will be associated with it?

What about Kankos?

What a load of shit. If this was the case, the brand wouldn’t have had such a massive turnaround and continued success in the last 5-10 years spearheaded by what has become an army of social media ambassadors / influencers. It’s not just a low SES demographic shopping at Kmart.

Every time I go to a Kmart, it’s always packed. And there’s also a good mix of demographics shopping at my local, low to upper-middle SES.
