Super Radio Network

It doesn’t sound like it, just the appointment of more high profile anmouncers like Ron Wilson and an assumed general lift in quality.

Agree that I’d like to see some music focussed shifts too, doesn’t seem like that’s going to happen sadly. As some local shifts on stations like 2RE do play some great music.

The fact they’ve announced a new brekkie announcer & newsreader, I’d say the next stage is a new mornings announcer and mornings newsreader.

Help us all if they keep the same afternoon, evening & weekend lineup on the network.

We’ll know this on Friday - they’re starting on Jan 6

Oh wow. That’s solid competition - and well needed considering Mark Levy starts permanently on 2GB from this Monday.

Side note: Yeah, when someone in the industry told me panel ops were getting $23p/h and asked would I do extra (casual) panel op work, I laughed in his face.

Told him, working in the railways as ordinary station staff, I get DOUBLE that, even before penalties kick in.

4GY’s 107.1 has lost lost its input (again). Mainly transmitting noise and tones with the program leaking through now and then.

God help the poor women working in that building.

Yeah I have hoping for someone different from Chris Smith.

Gee that transmitter is more off than on it seems, I don’t know why they bother. It’s just an annoyance to the listener.

They can tune into the still over deviating and distorted mess that is Noosa FM instead!

$23 per hour? I make more than that working in a warehouse

Working in a warehouse would usually cause you far less stress than a radio station too.

Minumum wagę in broadcasting just does not stack up against lots of other low wage jobs. Radio is mostly clean and air-conditioned but that’s about it - the equipment often belongs in a museum and so do some of the people.

…and a new website as well for 2SM!

Just had a quick look…

Still looks pretty plain, but more modern than the old one.

Looks like they’ve reverted back to the previous higher quality 2SM logo too.

The new website at www.2sm.com.au (not to be confused with the old website at www.2smsupernetwork.com ) looks to using the same code base as the ACE Radio Network sites. It looks a little different, but when inspecting the html code it’s basically identical. Maybe SRN have used the ACE Digital division to make their new website. Hopefully this means new websites are coming for all their stations.

Only criticism I have is the lack of frequency on there - sure they can stream there, but you want to tell people about 1269AM and DAB as options.

The SRN corporate site reference not being a valid link is about the only other issue, linking to a parked srnradio.com.au - I was interested in how else they were going to use that Super Radio Network logo.

Promising signs all round though.

2sm are now running ads for Ron’s breakfast show. Overall its more positive. Id like to see 2sm back in the ratings. Do you think they will?
