It doesn’t sound like it, just the appointment of more high profile anmouncers like Ron Wilson and an assumed general lift in quality.
Agree that I’d like to see some music focussed shifts too, doesn’t seem like that’s going to happen sadly. As some local shifts on stations like 2RE do play some great music.
Side note: Yeah, when someone in the industry told me panel ops were getting $23p/h and asked would I do extra (casual) panel op work, I laughed in his face.
Told him, working in the railways as ordinary station staff, I get DOUBLE that, even before penalties kick in.
Working in a warehouse would usually cause you far less stress than a radio station too.
Minumum wagę in broadcasting just does not stack up against lots of other low wage jobs. Radio is mostly clean and air-conditioned but that’s about it - the equipment often belongs in a museum and so do some of the people.
The new website at www.2sm.com.au (not to be confused with the old website at www.2smsupernetwork.com ) looks to using the same code base as the ACE Radio Network sites. It looks a little different, but when inspecting the html code it’s basically identical. Maybe SRN have used the ACE Digital division to make their new website. Hopefully this means new websites are coming for all their stations.
Only criticism I have is the lack of frequency on there - sure they can stream there, but you want to tell people about 1269AM and DAB as options.
The SRN corporate site reference not being a valid link is about the only other issue, linking to a parked srnradio.com.au - I was interested in how else they were going to use that Super Radio Network logo.
